Wanted a saiko FOREVER but not willing to pay saiko money for them so I did the next best thing. First stab at this and I'm really happy with how it turned out. Few small snags to work out on the next ones but it will definitely do the trick for now. Take that bait flippers!

I had it happen to me. Have been using procure on the underside of the body now and when I'm done for the day I use a sponge and baby shampoo to get all the scent off. Haven't had a single issue since. I think my main issue the first time was just wiping off the scent with a rag. I wasn't getting all of it so it had time to soak into the bait. Washing my baits now makes sure the scent is 100% gone viewtopic.php?f=2&t=13216

I was the one who mentioned it in the past. Butch suggested that the scent might have been drying out the oils in the skin of the bait, making the tail more brittle and susceptible to cracks. He said that because the tail is always going to be a fragile spot being that there is no hard body inside of it, he doesn't recommend using anything directly on the tail. He recommended that instead, I put the scent along the bottom of the bait where, even if it were to make the skin a bit more brittle, it wouldn't crack because it doesn't flex. Something he also told me about which I do religiously now is washing baits off after using scent. I heard somewhere that baby shampoo works well so i started using it, and now i use it every trip. Cheap, keeps your baits clean and crack free Casey

DONATIONS FOR A FELLOW ANGLER || DEPS 250 RAFFLE
WRHguy replied to surferdave's topic in The Underground
Just sent money for 2 tickets. Sorry for your loss. If I win the bait it will be going straight back on the Underground to be raffled off for a second round with all proceeds being donated again. Even though there is a slim chance of me winning, I wanted to post my plan here in hopes that someone sees it and considers doing the same. Even if just a few guys on here are willing to do this, it increases the chances of increasing donation money a good amount. Good luck to all and condolences to family and friends -
Dealt with Jason on two separate transactions this week. Fantastic to deal with. Shipped baits faster than I expected both times. Would have no hesitation doing business in the future

Ya I've just noticed that there are a couple of really quality spots that seem like they would hold fish regardless of time of year.... But after seeing a bedding fish use the spot and then leave, there doesn't seem to be any other fish that will go near the spots now
-
So being that fish are at different stages of the spawn at my lakes, I have noticed a trend lately. There have been days the past few seasons where I will find a bed fish in obvious bedding behavior, and been back a week or so after to the same spot to see no fish at all. So here is my question... Will fish bed in a spot that another fish has already layed eggs in? I have seen this on multiple occasions where prime spots (flat rocks, shaded cover) for spawning bass have been occupied and then once that fish has left the nest (either done spawning or just being caught enough to change spots)no other bass seem to want to occupy it. Just wondering if anyone has any insight into this, or it just happens to be mere coincidence that these spots are vacant Thanks Casey
