  1. Guys tossing spool teks account for a fair share of bull reds. If you're on a budget, storm wild eye shads can work. Also, they do fall for top waters, so punkers might be fun to try.
  2. I needed a laugh and this thread still brings it... I hope Mandingo keeps on tapping bass and choking deep throated stripers in perpetutity!
  3. *By relatively limited budget, I mean the rainshadow blank itself is inexpensive compared to others ...I know the choice of components , the labor involved if contracted out , etc can still make this a rather expensive project!
  4. f you want a 9ft 2 piece, there are the tackle industries muskie rods -mh or mag h. 50/50 tip /butt section split if that makes a a difference for your transportation requirements. $175...St Croix is nicer - butt joint ferrule split-but it is also quite a bit more expensive. If you have the time for a custom build but have a relatively limited budget , rainshadow sw 967f .. 8 ft , rated 3/4-4 oz.. The new TFO Big Fish rods might be worth considering too, am waiting to see reviews on them.

    Bowfin

Good work! There is a tender place in my heart for so called "trash fish" that hit swim baits... Bowfin, gar, etc- love them all!
  6. My other guess is black tip...Still, very impressive regardless. Good job on the bass & snook (that last one is a pig!!!) too.
  7. Correct me if I'm wrong, but that looks like a spinner shark.... Impressive..Most impressive!
  8. It is a win -win situation. It's a fish. It hit a swim bait. It fights a lot harder than a bass. And you don't have to feel guilty if you have the urge to fry one every now and then.
  9. Great idea....Pitching punkers around mullet schools is something I want to try....
  10. To flaswimbaiter you must listen.. (He is the jedi master of Sunshine State swim bait fishing. Be sure to search for his posts on this forum....)
  11. Glad to see the mandingo thread has been erected again!
  12. Impressive...Most impressive!
  13. Good job! Honestly , I love catching gar (and it is way more exciting when they hit swim baits and other lures than live bait ). I've had a few on the line that were relatively docile, but I've also have had several that put up fierce, acrobatic fights.
  14. LOL. I caught one on a Rapala BX Swimmer and have had others following my boot tail swimbaits.
  15. Nice catch! Don't feel guilty if you had the urge to throw it in some beer batter...
  16. There is nothing wrong with bottom bouncing! It can be a fun and incredibly productive technique.. But it isn't for the faint of heart...There is the inevitable risk that your expensive swimbait will get snagged in mud and debris on a occasion... Even the most experienced anglers cannot avoid this. Be sure to use plenty of pro cure. The retrieve should be slow and you should avoid jerking your rod violently.
  17. We wants it. ....We needs it.... Must have THE PRECIOUS!!!
  18. Has anybody used both the NACL 50 and the komodo 364? Is there enough of a difference in performance between the two to make it worthwhile to pay an extra $70 ?
  19. Good job. ...Still waiting for a " baby white shark ate my most expensive swim bait" post from you salt water guys..
  20. I love those snot rockets. They've saved many a day on the water for me.
  21. Nice work. They may not be bass, but both species fight harder than most bass which makes for that in my book.
