  1. You put alot of thought into it and it shows. Those things are bullet proof.
  2. I would take that one out of commission until you figure it out.
  3. Great place to do biz with.
  4. I have 3 and it has yet to get into the regular lineup. More below. With that said, I pulled the trigger on em cuz a better stick than me reported a haunting fish of a lifetime loss on one. Guy I trust too - he was caught off guard cuz it was a near splash down strike, and he wasn't in position to begin with to stick it. PS. It fishes well, but I failed to get a sniff on it fishing the end of a herring run in Maine years ago. Bass preferred the hudd rof 0 (nail weighted) then. PS. 1. Could have been a sign the shad were long gone as is the case since they are first to spawn followed by the herring. I am also a guy who almost bailed on the slammer and also took a decade to get confidence in a Hudd. I was about 15 years late to the baby wake, but that had more to do with them finally coming down in price on the bm.
  5. Suspending wobble with an upside down profile like a megabass anthrax dying minnow look.
  6. You put the time in. Congrats. Luv the pic on the measuring board.
  7. Try pointing rod at bait and don't look at the bait. Should help.
  8. I guess you could hit em with a swab of wd40 which some claim is a fish attractant. Also a fan of squeakers but I suppose some squeaks could sound like orcas or other predators.
  9. Yes Sly Guy and Bucca are very good options if you are looking for a true gilder. Confidence in mid size gantarel however has kept these baits sidelined for me. PS. The gantarel is not really a true glide but more of a jerkbait style glide like the islide.
  10. There is a 10 year rule. Almost all lake records occur within the first 10 years of introduction. If you follow some of the hot little Caly ponds, same deal, sometimes there is a drought or fish kill and the 10 year cycle begins again. It is not just about trout and forage.
  11. DS Customs does well early season up here.
  12. You should be stoked. Congrats. PS. Luv the gantarel just hate that well designed welded ring with a flat side. It is necessary but tricky to tie a knot so flat side sits against the bait
  13. Crappie pattern answers the riddle why a simple chartreuse black dots pattern works so well.
  14. Yeah, it is easy when you get the hang of it, but memory will lapse quickly tho if you don't do it alot. There are certain tricks in steps to get clutch to engage etc. I gave up a while ago, now doing only non take down cleanup oil and lube. Too many parts these days. I can open up bearing cylinder too but don't do that much. PS. While I have sympathy for poster not getting a response, I wonder about the condition of the reel sent. When you talk to repair guys, they always talk about reel abuse as if some customers were abusing their dogs. The yakers dunking their stuff must be loss leaders for these guys.
  15. I would seek input from a custom builder. They are usually in tune with the rod blanks out there.
  16. I would hit both of them.
  17. I hope you didn't jinx yourself going public with the state record quest and can't wait for the report..... Fish are going to have heart attacks when they feel the effects of predation getting surprised and caught in their deep water refuge aread..Jordan Lee said his impression of fish on Lake Fork was that they were disbursing due to fishing pressure during a time they used to team up to coral prey. Nowhere to hide! PS. Still saying an edge on the bass tour rarely holds up for the long term. Especially if it does not involve making predictions of fish preferences and patterns. Been hearing a new name or two every year. Last year it was the Japanese fells on Champlain. This year it is a 19 year old whose name I do not remember already.
  18. It is prob cuz they don't throw sbs much. I was pumped to meet Steve Kennedy at a sports show to discuss an elites torney he won with in Caly with a huddleston. He hardly remembered it. I think somebody just handed him one to use and he never threw it again. Weird.
  19. What's funny is after typing message mentioning Jordan Lee above, I got a tiktok vid feed of Jordan Lee talking about the Lake Fork torney, and the role ffs unquestionably played in it. He stated what I now know having fished Champlain many times. With ffs, you can now target disbursed fish with accuracy. And if they want to eat like during an early pre-spawn scenario, it is a game changer. PS. I have fished Champlain during Memorial Day weekends many times. I found good fish in small pockets (almost spawning pairs) pre spawn and hadn't moved up in 20 feet of water. I could spot them with my traditional scans, but could never really target them well making random casts to the tiny area where I thought they were. The structure area was so small. So when I watched the Elites on Champlain on tv, it brought back memories of these fish I had scoped but had little chance of catching. With the ffs you can hit those spots with accuracy rather than wasting your time trying to get a bait to them.
  20. We can disagree, the best sticks left for mlf years back and never returned.
  21. There is always a newbie hot hand on the circuit. Jordan Lee for example. But I agree it has to got help if you are watching fish target bait.
  22. Jacob Proseniak(sp) spoke at a MA sports show this year. He said he doesn't use it all that much fishing privately. But he did admit and surprised me when he said he uses 3 yes 3 ffs units during a torney, because they might help him to locate that one torney winner he needs.....I don't see how these units improve fishing outside of lakes with pelagic fish populations chasing bait schools like shad alewives......in most cases a suspended deep fish is an inactive one. I have spent way too much time drop shotting unsuccessfully over inactive fish....The pro circuits tho are not real life, they hand pick dates knowing that fishery should have a prime bite at torney time. And that is why locals get pissed and look like jerks fishing the same water.
