  1. So I tied on the 8" Hudd on for the first time the other day and as I made my first cast, an instant sharp pain and tingling took over both wrists, but more son in my right (I reel right handed). I haven't been throwing the swimbait for too long, but I'm used to throwing out irons and torpedos ranging anywhere from 4-10 oz regularly in the ocean... Is this something that anyone else has experienced before? I'm wondering if it's due to the size of the Hudd, as opposed to the weight of it that might be causing it... Apparently, my casting style is your standard overhand cast... but the pain I experienced kinda has me a lil worried... I'm gonna try and give it a shot again tomorrow on my LDC Heavy and see if the other rod I was using at the time may not be a good match for the 8" Hudd (a Lew's XH umbrella rig rod w/ a moderate taper that I use for inshore). I'd appreciate any input as it's become somewhat of a concern... Thanks y'all.
  2. That's why I got mine too... Can't wait to test it out on the wall since it'll be a while before I get out to SCI. Get 'em!!!
  3. Niice grab! Gonna ditch work and fish tomorrow so I hope my day goes just as well as yours...
  4. I think american legacy fishing has the buy one get one deal... but the spools are only 125 yards for the fx2, i believe. Also, it's only on certain products.
  5. I substitute swimbaiting to give me my fishing fix when I can't get out on the ocean. It's been a chess match that I know I can't win... but best believe I'm gonna keep on chuckin!
  6. Right??? If I had the loot, I'd give this thing a shot...
  7. What baits were you throwing on it? Any thoughts on the max lure weight to chuck with?I've got an opportunity to grab one of these at a great price, so I'm thinking about this or another lexa 300 in the 5:1:1
  8. Are there any requirements to signing up for this (post count, length of time registered on forum, etc)? I'd like to sample this bait before committing on buying one. I've got some baits that I can donate for the share program...
  9. Got 2 spools of Sunline FX2 Braid in dark green and blue/green for sale. $35 shipped each or $65 shipped for both. Local pickup (la/oc) available. FYI This is my first FS post so you won't find any feedback for me. Just trying to move some extra gear to save up cash for the Fred Hall show.
  10. Since making the switch over to fishing swimbaits back in September, I've simply fished with the same specs I use for salt fishing... In salt, I use a 30# toro tamer braid (which will get switched out to 50# fx2) with 15# fluoro. I throw irons in the 4/4.5oz range as well as 10oz weights that have, thankfully, never been casted off or snapped during a hookset. Having a couple hundred feet of line out of line with little to no stretch doesn't seem to affect my hookset. I'm sure I've missed countless fish by ripping the hooks out...But I've also landed a lot of fish, anywhere from dinks to 20+lb bluefin.. Mostly horsing the fish over the rail...I'm still learning the dynamics of swimbait bass fishing, but I feel a lot translates over from both the FW & SW side of things. My swimbait setup (same rod I use for salt) has 40# powerpro with a 15#-25# Seaguar Premiere fluoro leader... depending on what I'm chucking. The only times I've lost a lure in fw have been once from hanging it up on a tree and twice from the hooks fouling my braid and being too lazy to retie. Haven't had the opportunity to fight/land anything notable just yet, but I will in time. Since learning to fish ages ago using straight mono, after making the switch to the braid/fluoro combo, I've never looked back. Ain't no other way way to figure it out besides spooling your reels up and figuring it out for yourself.
  11. Good stuff! Still waiting to hit Castaic or the Aqueduct to target some stripers. Get 'em!
  12. Yuup! Especially on a party boat. Cuz everyone's in the back of the boat getting tangled.
  13. Saw these at Sav On Tackle the other day... along with other goodies.
  14. This is exactly what happened in the shoe game (and still continues today). If the masses don't pay the price, it will settle to a reasonable point... but it ain't a perfect world... Resellers will always be there... as long as there is profit to be made. Unfortunately within the fishing community as a whole, we are generally always willing to pay the price for something we want. So they'll be around for years to come.
  15. anything from DJ Shadow. He's got all your bases covered.
  16. I recently got into throwing swimbaits/FW fishing just as fall started to roll in. I did it for the sole purpose of filling the void for when I can't go out on the ocean and catch bigger sized fish. I've been on a drought, as of late as well. But I still try to get out there as much as I can. Patience is definitely something I've learned so far... and it's building pretty strong. I think time on the water is more important, especially during the colder months. Also, throwing your bait without any concern of losing it increases hookups. Chess is a hard game to play, but you'll get it. I just hope I do too. I can't wait till "fishing" becomes "catching." I think I've already forgotten what a bite feels like cuz I'm the only fool on the bank swinging for the fences.
  17. Because of this, cars are no longer a hobby. I'd rather buy multiple rod/reel setups than spend on a motor build or suspension parts... now if I can only get rid of some sets of wheels to buy more gear...
  18. Niiice. I may end up doing the same thing. Tis the muthaduckin season. Hopefully we all do some more catching rather than fishing.
