I would have to say your spool bearing has gone out. thats usually what it is in my daiwas, especially the ones i use for swimbaits, as the load from the weight of the lure stresses that bearing. Or I could be dead wrong

A penn 965 should work well for swimbaits…the guts are very similar in design to a calcutta 400. Happy chuckin
