  1. I'll throw 20lb P-Line on pretty much any size reel lol..... so my answer would be 20lbs line
  2. In my experience, the big difference is just leverage when fighting a fish in. When they make their runs left to right, it feels like the guides toward the rod tip stay with the fish better since they're underneath. You'll see most anglers with traditional wrapped guides move their rod opposite of the fish to keep leverage... with the spiral wrap this kind of happens naturally. Other than that, if its a custom rod, I like it just to be unique lol
  3. For budget friendly the MS Slammers are awesome. 3:16 baby wake, Toxic Whippersnapper & Wade Hoggs, UFO Gill, Bull wake, and mostly any rat bait available all get some good ones for wake bites. Wake bites are arguably one of the funnest and best presentations so Im sure youre going to enjoy it whichever route you go.
  4. Haven't been on here in a good while. Good to see bassbass still on 'em!
  5. For a production rod, I love the Phenix M1 Swimbait Casting Rod 8' Heavy for a higher-end feel. Or the Daiwa DX Swimbait Casting Rod 8' Hvy/Fast for a more budget friendly option. For a custom rod, I love the MOAM 5150 sticks Lunatic. You can get it in a "jig hook" build specific to soft baits. I like sturdy fast taper rods for soft baits to give them a strong backbone to set the hook with.
  6. I like to use Owner Hyper Wire #5's for almost everything, but i generally am using smaller hooks than normal. Think #5 & #6 are all around the best sizes. If the bait is huge, i may use #7 but thats usually the biggest i'll go.
  7. I think @bassbass method with the Straight braid custom's weighted hooks would be a good idea. We've also added a tear-drop weight to the nose of the regular UFO to get it to be a slow sink. Not sure how big of a weight will be needed for the Mothership, but i'd give it a try. Easier way to adjust its sink without doctoring it up too much
  8. I’m digging the Looker. Looks real good. Also, nice clean work on the tails
  9. I think the line can alter the baits swim a tad bit, especially depending on the type of bait. Here what I personally ise braid - use it for most top water baits. Wakes, walk-the-dog, and the 3:16 Minnow. Braided line gives me way better hook-up ratio since it doesn’t stretch. Let’s the fish kind of hook themselves. copoly - use it for most sub-surface and cranking applications. Tends to do a bit better cranking through brush than floor does (doesn’t get knocked up as bad), and for sub-surface I prefer a little stretch so I don’t pull the bait off the fish when they soft strike it flouro - use it for anything I wanna grind the bottom with, like soft baits (and magnum spoons). The low stretch let’s me feel when it gets hit, and the sinking of the line is critical to keep the bait down low longer as I retrieve
  10. Just a heads ups on the baking soda/ca glue combo, its not bouyant so it could make your bait sink a bit faster (depending on how much needs to be used), but it does work as a good filler. Also, spreading/smearing Kwikwood over the rash works well for me too and keeps bouyancy, but doesnt look the prettiest on the sides of the bait.
  11. I think it’s worth it to put on the front hook. Manny Chee swears by em, and I’ve seen buddies use them and fish do hit that front hook more it seems like
  12. 1. Deps 250 2. 3:16 workhorse 3. Gancraft Jointed Claw 230 Magnum 4. Hinkle 5. Donut Shad
  13. Micro Mink, Nexumma XL, and my personal fave... the El Raton (2pc or 3pc). Those would be my go to rats
  14. Traveling Bomber is ready to get back in action. Who’s next on the list?
  15. Here’s the new paint scheme for the Traveling Bomber. It’s a Purple/Gold Shad.
  16. I have the Traveling Bomber, rebuilt the tail and stripping the deformed paint and cleaned it up a bit. Gonna lay some new paint on it, and will finish it up and get it on out. Stay tuned!
  17. For saltwater there’s tons of 24hr access. I’d recommend grabbing some Big Hammer Swimbaits and having a crack at some Spotted Bay bass. It’s a lot of fun with good amounts of bites. For freshwater unfortunately only the San Diego river legally speaking, but the transients there take it upon themselves to not allow you to fish there (can get pretty sketchy). if you’re game to do some “ninja” fishing, then pretty much any freshwater pond/lake is game. Some with better access than others, just make sure to be discreet and not get caught.
  18. Such a fun event to be a part of! First time for me running a booth, but couldn’t ask for a better day. Finally got to link up with a bunch of folks, have the boys kick it in the booth, and have my family come check out the Swimbait madness. cant wait for the next one!
  19. Man, reading this write up leaves me speechless! I can't thank you enough for giving the bait a shot, especially after 6hrs of no bites. Usually guys will divert to their confidence bait, but you gave the Bomber a chance! I'm overjoyed every time I see someone have success on one of my baits, but the Bomber hits me the most. The little bait keeps on surprising me with what it can do haha. Its weird to say it myself, but so cool to see a bait that was designed and developed through The Underground now catching an SU member's biggest swimbait fish to date. Thank you again @LUV-2-CATCH'EM for fishing the bait! Will be sending a couple more up your way. Thanks to @swimbaitunderground for creating this community where stories like this can materialize.
  20. Awesome trout eaters Scott! Glad to see someone sticking some trouty fish out here.
  21. Whats up guys! Haven't been on here in a bit, but wanted to give an update on the Bomber Wake, especially after this weekend. Had the pleasure of being a vendor at the @ufobaitco Swimbait Invasion on Saturday 3/7 and had the pleasure of talking to alot of guys who have been fishing the Bomber. I made the bait initially to be a true wake bait with the ability to be walked in place. But after talking to guys, this bait has exceeded my expectation of it in it's versatility, Here's my takeaway from the event: 1. A lot of guys love doing a short wake and then pausing the bait and giving it a couple slaps of the rod to "walk" the bait in place. Had at least two guys tell me they almost exclusively "walk" the bait now, as its produced the best for them. 2. Met a handful of guys who wake the bait during those low light times, however when the sun comes up they use it as a crank bait through brush, etc. The bait dives about a foot, but these guys swear that this technique of shallow cranking gets bit! 3. Another member also burns the bait with stop-and-go action, and has been having big success using it as a jerk bait. Was a great time talking through all this information and as a "bait maker" getting this feedback. To cap it all off, my dream of a DD has finally been accomplished by @LUV-2-CATCH'EM who stuck a 10.2 on the Bomber Wake! Wanted to post his pic on here to show the bait starting from an idea to now officially getting a DD. It's a gratifying moment for me and the Biggfeast Baits brand, and im so appreciative to be a part of this Grass roots section where so many great baits have come from.
