  1. I do fish from base, but these were caught in boat. Right now been back in the U.S., Pioneer, CA. Parents house and two vehicles burned to the ground on the night before Thanksgiving, with no insurance (insurance company needed wanted one more thing done to the house before they could get insured). Trying to help them pick up the pieces.
  2. Thanks all for the kind words. They are cousin to snook and barramundi, and have the same gillplate that'll slice you if not careful....
  3. Thanks. Navy... knew going Navy I'd always be around some form of water- save the time in the desert.
  4. I started fishing big baits for suzuki seabass in Japan. Worked very well, normally using smaller lures but in winter when the fish are pre-spawn and large, seems to be the ticket. Lot of mullet around so only makes sense. These fish were caught on 8" Hud ROF5 and a Gan Craft Jointed Claw 178. Now I am stationed in Korea. This is a Korean River tarpon, gangjunchi in Korean, properly known as Predatory carp. Hit a SR7 at sunset in 2 feet of water, was cool to see. Lately been searching for a big bait largemouth but hasn't materialized. Couple hundred hours for nadda. I like to fish for everything that swims, and not just on big baits, so may do a change of pace with intermittent bass trips here soon.
  5. Let's try this again... plus a shot from the lake this morning.
  6. Hmm, no pics? Is this setup so newbs can't post pics? First it tells me too many kb, now says too small? Pretty restrictive it seems.
  7. Can I sign up from Korea? I've got an FPO/AP address so can get the lure via USPS, same shipping charges as San Francisco.
  8. Here's what I'm taking to the lake in the morning. 3 are Capt G's original blanks, he did the handles and I just wrapped the guides. Don't laugh at the pink, it's for my wife, I just wrapped the guides last week so it gets spash tested tomorrow. The black and white is a build I just finished on a Batson XP845, for smaller 1 ounce swimbaits for suzuki seabass, going to test it out with the Missionfish in the morning. Have a couple heavier rods in the works but they aren't done yet.
  9. Use them all the time on my own custom rods. Love them, but they do get cold.
  10. Whazzup? New member, first post. I fished primarily saltwater offshore in Japan, now in Korea and doing a lot of time on the water looking for a larger bass. I have an X-Factor and an old Hobie Outback. The X-Factor is MUCH more stable. Night and day difference. Both are comfortable. But once I started pedaling, I never took my X-Factor out again. I let friends use it. It is a total night and day difference being able to pedal. After a year of fishing in each I'll never go back to paddling. There were times offshore I got caught in 30 knot winds and worried about making it back to where I needed to go. Never have that worry with pedaling. I do not stand in either kayak. I have tried it a couple times, neither time felt comfortable enough. I stay seated and cast PLENTY far from seated position. I have had the line tangle around the pedals a couple of times, usually while trolling two rods and hooking a fish. Easily untangled. Love the Outback. Been playing with the idea of upgrading to the Pro Angler but the storage I have in Japan is overhead. Not sure if I want to deal with the extra weight. Use a Elite-4 for Electronics, powered by 8 AA batteries lasts about 18 hours before needing battery replacement. I use the GPS in it quite a bit. Just purchased an Elite 5-HDI and look forward to seeing how that works.
