Since I am an old guy, is it ok for me to bend the bill of my soon to be ordered hat? -

I like the swivels. After epoxy your bait is still going to have depth . Awesome

Check out an image of the "Horse Lubber" grasshopper, we have them all over the desert. Sometimes they will be 3" long.

The main consideration for me on small lakes is which way is the wind blowing. This will help determine currents that will affect the baitfish activity. Pretty sure that the lake you pictured is "upstream" of the greenbelt that runs to TTL. Usually the wind is blowing south in the morning and as it warms up a reverse thermal type wind blowing north. If this is the case concentrate on areas that are in the path of both morning and afternoon currents that are near funnels and/or ambush points. Deeper water will help and do some recon for a week or two with a big carolina rig to find EVERY contour change in keys areas. If I was going there based on the pic alone I would start near the top of the pic where the lake is narrow and fish the point which has access to the smaller little coves, especially if the other people hang near the trout stocking area. Be purposeful with your casts, paying attention to angles in relation to your location and distant shore landmarks. After you cast allow the bait to soak and allow time for the big girls to come see what the caused the commotion (bait splashing down). You must be patient because the biggest fish in the lake will NOT be in a hurry, except during the spawn. PS. Keep a low profile, squating or using a tree or bush to help break up your outline, no loud shirts.....etc
