  1. Beautiful work, always impressive.
  2. Since I am an old guy, is it ok for me to bend the bill of my soon to be ordered hat?
  3. Fresh 808 Rogue waiting for it, stoked!
  4. I like the swivels. After epoxy your bait is still going to have depth . Awesome
  5. Excellent work! Very impressive.
  6. Check out an image of the "Horse Lubber" grasshopper, we have them all over the desert. Sometimes they will be 3" long.
  7. The main consideration for me on small lakes is which way is the wind blowing. This will help determine currents that will affect the baitfish activity. Pretty sure that the lake you pictured is "upstream" of the greenbelt that runs to TTL. Usually the wind is blowing south in the morning and as it warms up a reverse thermal type wind blowing north. If this is the case concentrate on areas that are in the path of both morning and afternoon currents that are near funnels and/or ambush points. Deeper water will help and do some recon for a week or two with a big carolina rig to find EVERY contour change in keys areas. If I was going there based on the pic alone I would start near the top of the pic where the lake is narrow and fish the point which has access to the smaller little coves, especially if the other people hang near the trout stocking area. Be purposeful with your casts, paying attention to angles in relation to your location and distant shore landmarks. After you cast allow the bait to soak and allow time for the big girls to come see what the caused the commotion (bait splashing down). You must be patient because the biggest fish in the lake will NOT be in a hurry, except during the spawn. PS. Keep a low profile, squating or using a tree or bush to help break up your outline, no loud shirts.....etc

Great transaction, fast shipping. Thanks again Sean!
  9. Sent you a pm, evidently at the same time you just posted.
  10. Tucson currently. I lived in Gilbert/San Tan for 8 years until 2010, I know lots of spots in the east valley.
  11. Nice job at my favorite lake! I would be willing to bet that if you caught the 12 you'd be smiling...
  12. Ive read the noob threads and think theyre funny. I am a big boy and have no problem choosing my gear and baits and where and how to fish it. In the past on other forums i would be avalanched by 'noobs' every time i posted a report with pix, so i understand the frustration and eye rolling that accompanies it. Spent a year in Carlsbad also and fished 300 days that year with a coworker who was a native So-Cal guy, so im even familiar with the vernacular that figures prominently here.......
  13. Point taken. Been sanding this bluegill for hours....

    Intro

I have a fishing addiction. Gramps took me trout fishing at 6 and it was on. My family was full of hunters, me included, but I always had my eye on those farm ponds and cattle tanks to see if there were fish. Growing up we hunted mainly but my Uncle also liked to fish and was the only one who didn't get discouraged by my early talent of always being the one who caught the first, the biggest, and the most fish. We hit cattle tanks and lakes and farm ponds all over Southern AZ and once I got a truck I was fishing all the time. Ninja'd here and there and when Gramps got a 2nd boat I kept the small one in my truck about 3 months out of the year for awhile. No pond was safe. Most of the last ten years I tournament fished and am a terrible tackle "Not Allowed". I pour jigs and plastics, including making the molds, make jigging spoons, spinnerbaits , buzzbaits, and so on for myself and have caught plenty of fish on swimbaits, including my PB. Winter here in AZ is usually the time when the big baits come out through post spawn but this year was different. The NEED to throw the big baits is taking over and I even started carving my own. I'm far from a noob but am new to this site and look forward to posting some pics of baits and fish and getting on to the next phase of my fishing.
  15. Thanks for the info. I carved a bluegill this morning with the maple and like it. My first try with some scrap doug fir carved easily but like you mentioned the sanding is tougher. Getting ready to make the joints in both baits, kinda nervous.
  16. Anyone have any experience carving maple? I'm wanting to carve some baits of my own and would like something very durable to use.
