  1. I hear you bigworm, sad indeed. I left Humboldt after high school about 20 years ago, but I have some very fond memories fishing for steelhead in the 6 rivers, kings in Klamath, trinity, mad, and eel. But the lagoon is what started the sickness from the beginning, when I was just a little tyke, catching limits of planter trout kept me entertained. But as I got older and steelhead season came to an end I used to go up there and slay giant LMB on smithwick rouges. One day I personally witnessed probably a 10lb lmb crash a rainbow in the very south end of the lagoon (where the lilys used to grow, and there was one giant redwood that extended into the water for 80ft) , it blew my mind, I threw anything I thought would resemble a trout then...this was still way before anything like a hudd. I even caught a few on a K-14 kwickfish...lol. Good times, takes me down memory lane to when the addiction began.
  2. Winter 1)8in hudd 2)BGC 10.5 3)Deps 250 Summer 1)TT/ Al-e-baby 2)BBZ 8in 3)Slammer/Rat Fall & Spring=who knows,....its like swimbait junk fishing. I try and keep an open mind and roll with what the fish tell.
  3. bigworm....lol. I grew up in Eureka/freshwater. Nothing about Humboldt or the emerald triangle is urban...urban to us is a 5hr drive south, or 8hrs north. You ever go fish the the lagoon? Just curious.....I know they get a TONS of trout candy bars!
  4. PM, or post here, out of the country for work so phone doesn't work

    My first DD

Not really very accurate, unless there are a lot of fish smoking a pack a day for over a decade? well then by all means, snap pic after pic, and hold a giant out of the water for 5 minutes. I always choose to err on the side of caution when handling fish.

that def looks like the same fish. A good rule of thumb to use is everytime you take them out of water properly supported, hold your own breath, when u need air, they need water. Also a properly working livewell is a must, and I personally always carry rejuvenate to put in the livewell water. It really seems to help. Not to bash but I highly doubt it was "natural death" Live and learn. Fish care is extremely important!!!!!
  7. Wilderness ride 115. My brother has 2. One is a 140 one a 115. Sweet little yaks
  8. woops, meant 150 each, for some reason I couldn't edit post above

  10. thanks for the heads up, just picked up a few
  11. I have, I wasn't fishing swimbaits though. Dropshots and ripbaits. Biggest was probably 3lbs, it was may
  12. if its bass ur looking for, fish the keys
  13. animosity......get your popcorn. Its about catching giants and chucking swimbaits looking for that fish of a lifetime, isn't it?
  14. As commonly referred too. Look for key features, the spot on the spot. If there is a mainlake point, focus on that one piece of cover on the structure........maybe its a big rock, or tree. Look for pinch points, laydowns, in your area.... hard grass line breaks. Every day and every lake is different but I normally do most my damage in my first few cast to a spot and I recycle my milk run through the day. Never spending too much time at one spot giving fish ample time to see my bait over and over.
  15. As title says, I would also consider a flash carp
  16. Tips and or techniques used? I've searched around for info to no avail. Anyone with experience doing this?
  17. I own a bunch of Irods and I love them. The Jr for smaller baits to 3oz and the large for baits up to 7oz. I personally like the Cardiff 301 and the curado 301. Stick with the tried and true baits, go from there. For good value in a start up swimbait arsenal I would suggest top water/wake baits. MS Slammer, Punker, HUDD ROF 0, BBZ1 _(imo very under hyped and used) Mid water. TT, BBZ1, Swaver 200, trashfish Bottom. HUDD! trashfish, missionfish If you're looking for a swimbait intervention in the near future, you could go crazy and broke fast unless you make over 100k a year and live with mom, lol I have narrowed it down quite a bit and stick to only a few baits now though. HUDDS, Deps 250, TT, BBZ1, swaver, MS Slammer, Punker,Nez Rat, BigGame Custom.....maybe a gill bait here and there
  18. Talk about setting a new bar in the swimbait game! Insane Mattlures. cant wait
  19. Awesome job raising money for a great cause Don! Thanks again bro
  20. That's a bummer. In my opinion his baits are among the top tier. I can think of only 2 guys making better baits. Myself and a few other guys I really respect all thought he would end up with cult like status in the not so distant future. Hope u get back to making baits again someday Kev. I will cherish the ones I have, and I always keep a scuba bottle on board in my boat!
