Thanks, not sure what I was going for with the paint job. I had some turkey feathers laying around ,and they look cool in the sun, so I threw one on the back

I've seen some guys use clear epoxy. I usually just use 4 coats of clear spray paint.

Tried my hand at a Lunker Punker style topwater and it was not walking right. I kept looking at it and decided it might make a better swim/wake bait. Cut her in half, slapped on a bill, and she swam great right off the bench. trim.9F5BBC9E-FE37-4A0D-B99A-9A854BC376F4.MOV

Just finished this 7" swimbait. Im going down to El Salto in a few weeks and I wanted to bring something homemade down there. I went with some tilapia colors, lots of them down there. I also cut one of the tines off the treble and have it held in place on top with a magnet. There are lots of trees in the water down there, hope that helps. It would be awesome to hang a 10 down there on a garage creation. Hawg.tiff

Hows she swim?

I'm sure this has already been covered, but what materials have you guys found to be successful in making the tail fin for hard bodied swimbaits?
-
Thanks guys, I literally picked up a scrap piece of 2x4 from a home project off my garage floor and drew an outline. The fins were made from some old tarp material. I ditched the dorsal fin, it was causing it to roll. I finally got the ballast right. It is amazing how a tiny bit of weight can make a difference. I learned a lot on my first attempt

Wanted a swimbait but did not have the cash. I thought maybe my dremel and a scrap 2x4 would work. It's a little rough and I am still working out some ballast issues but overall im pretty happy. Testing it out in the morning. Hopefully a big girl likes it as well. I Been reading a lot on here, you guys really have it dialed in. I am learning a lot.

I recently used a piece of all-thread. It is strong and cheap
