  1. That would be ol' mister blue, they are mean critters!
  2. Is this the Calumet River? I drove through Chicago on my way to fish the BASS College National Championship in Minnesota and I thought it looked awful fishy!
  3. That was on #130 fluoro, I have used #90 and it did really well, I just didn't have any that size on me at the time. 90 allows the bait to move more freely and with a swimbait I've never had them even get the full bait in their mouth because of all the trebles and such, line is pretty safe.
  4. That was my estimate. I don't measure them unless I think it will break my PB (@43", three of the darn things at that size but not one over). More important to get them back in the water, especially this time of year.
  5. Spent about an hour with my buddy throwing for some muskies yesterday. Moved in Tuesday night, had one in my hands by Wednesday night (after class of course). 6" SS Bull Shad. I bet I have caught a dozen of them on it, still going strong!
  6. Not sure if this is April fools or just a really crazy catch
  7. Who said that? I run 130lb fluoro leader. I don't see the vertical hold argument, people hold them vertically every single time they lift the fish in and out of the boat, I understand that it's harmful for the fish but every single person does it. I read that fish under 12lbs aren't harmed by the vertical hold and this fish was far from that
  8. I figured since it was a small fish I could do that, but I will keep that in mind
  9. Broke out the 9" suicide glide Tuesday morning before class, low 30" fish crushed it on the surface! Things should start picking up here pretty soon. (on WVU campus)
  10. Your buddy looks like he could be quite the character! Nice fish
  11. I throw them on a mojo bass 7'9" swimbait rod that is rated for 1-4oz. Cardiff 400 with 20lb line, mono or fluoro. Fluoro or mono seems to get wayyyy more bites than braid for me, not sure why but enough that I won't ever think about throwing one on braid. I like Picasso's rigs, they are well made and will hold up to a pile of fish, easy to change out hardware on them too. I don't throw anything other than keitechs on a rig unless I am striper fishing in which case the keitechs get torn up too easily. Put a 5.8" keitech on each arm on a rig with big blades and you've got quite a commotion coming through the water. I've caught bass on the rig in 40 degree water and its effectiveness in cold water is one of my favorite things about it.
  12. That is a stud crappie, sweet colors on it too
  13. I spent a year throwing nothing but swimbaits, now I fish a lot of tournaments so I can't really do that. That year taught me a lot about the when, where, and how of big swimbaits, so there are definitely days where I go out and "swimbait fish". A glide bait is also an awesome prefishing tool.
  14. I've always stuck with round because of line capacity, on a long cast my retrieve speed will be the same as it is 10' from my rod tip, so there is no guessing. Some low profiles will dump half a spool on a long cast and your retrieve gradually gets faster as you reel if you are winding at the same speed the whole time.
  15. @Nolan_Minor, tons of fish pics to come but don't follow me if some non-swimbait catches offend you
  16. If that was a hybrid it would beat the current world record by 8 pounds
  17. Pink shades still don't touch the skinny jeans hoodies and snapbacks on the west coast
  18. Those trout must be mean! I'd love to catch a trout on a SB. Had them follow a glide before but never eat it. You definitely don't need to worry about breaking that bait. My bullshad is 3 years old and has been through rocks, trees, bass, striper, and most recently several musky, and she still runs true!
  19. Mon River. My musky count is up to 14 now. I fished stonewall for bass in October from my kayak and saw a big musky chasing a small carp, they are definitely thick in there. You're brave for throwing that bait in a lake full of flooded timber and big toothy critters to wrap you up in them!
  20. Glove definitely had me confused too. Great fish!
  21. Either or depending on how fast you fish it and where you keep your rod tip
