  1. We must fish in the same spot. good one
  2. Bummer, It makes me fee for you, I lost the first two I ever shot with a bow(Bad Nerves when their 15 ft away). I will tell you I was a nay-sayer for a while but I started shooting Rage 2 blade expandables and havnt looked back. Expensive, but well worth it IMHO. Good luck and happy hunting.
  3. I just got mine a few weeks ago. Mine glides pretty wide. I've been impressed with it so far. Dont know about others but mine is good for a slow retrieve or twitching. More than one or two fast turns of the handle and it blows out and roles over. Only fished it 3 times(shad patterns are working better for me now). No bass but had some GIANT gar after it hot and heavy. Solid bait. No complaints
  4. At last! Been waiting for years it feels like , hope I can snag one before their gone.
  5. I just got my seven inch SS in yesterday. Fished it for about 4 hrs today. I was hoping to have an epic tale of the monsters I was crushing. I didn't have a single bite and zero followers that I saw. In its defense It looked like "Flight of The Pontoon" today and 15 to 20 winds and 88* water. It cast well and I don't think it fouled but a time or two. I could burn it or slow roll it and it looked good to me. The coloring is a little whiter as stated above(no big deal to me) but it seems to be a good solid bait.
  6. That's great man! Thanks for the opportunity. I was just thinking it's hard to beat a dude in the sub tourneys who go's out and catches toads on command.
  7. Congrats on the good fish. Hope it was a huge confidence builder! Keep chucking.
  8. Looks good man. I use cross stitch frames to hold the screen. They look like two hoops one that fits in the other. Ive also had better luck using netting with larger diameter material if that makes any sense. I like bigger scales though. Keep plugging away! I think what you have looks good!
  9. Just wait for the new ones to come out. The 175's should ship in the next few weeks( September) and the 250's are supposed to be here in October. That will save you from the hassle of modding a $100 you might not be comfortable with. I hope to snatch a few new SS myself!
  10. Good small-jaw!!! Congrats on the PB! You wont be dissapointed with the 200's
  11. Good one. Slammer fish always exciting!
  12. Good one! Can't wait till mine comes in!
  13. I fish norman a few times a week. Best bet is queens landing for yaking. There is some pretty decent humps and ditches that are pretty easy to paddle to and find. If I wasn't so busy this week I'd be happy to have another big bait chucker aboard. Bite hasn't been great but ok. Any questions let me know
  14. It may not be a swimbait..... but a copy of Southern Trout Eaters is a must. I just wish I would have gotten a copy of it first before falling into buying a bunch of stuff I never use(and I bought WAY to much at once). 1.Hudd 8" 1. Slammer 9" 1.G2 1. Punker Keeping it simple has worked out for me so far
  15. Bought first 8inch wood punker today. My local shop has finally started moving to big baits and he just got these in last week. He said they were painted for an elite series pro(double sided). I dont know if that ment the color scheme or the baits themselves. Either way I thought it was worth sharing. This was the bass/bluegill pattern He had a Shad/trout also that looked pretty cool
  16. Add one more to the list of zero action this summer on an s waver. I smoked um pre spawn and during. I have tremendous confidence in wavers. Water temps warmed and Ive had no glide bait action. On color I have had best results on lite trout and we dont have ANY trout in my local waters. They look real enough swimming I had a seagull dive in and actually pluck it from the water back in march. He was flying off with it holding it by the back when I yanked it away from him. No one believes me and to be perfectly honestly if I wasn't there I probably wouldn't either. If you crack the code of warm water s wavers please fill me in cause I'm missing it
  17. If it's still available I'll take it Cody
  18. is the 400 still available?
  19. Well the update on the Rat is not exactly what I was hoping for but still some good news. After several hours with not so much as a swat or follow I switched over to my standbys and was able to hang a 3-7 and a 4-4 and qute a few 2 + lb fish(all spots). Not giants but a great day for me. Back to the drawing board on the rat I guess. I did notice the the diving lip needs be vertical as it was wanting to dive its head under the water. Any other suggestions?
  20. Been working out of town the last few days. Finally got to put some paint on tonight. Took a few coats to get it right but Im happy with it. Clear coat then some ST-36s and its off to the dead sea. Next one has to be black as who can get by with only one. Still open to suggestions for improvement. Fishing report sunday. Should have a few days and nights on it by then.
  21. First post here guys. I've been carousing around for a while and want to say thanks to everybody for all the good info. Finally nailed my first swimbait fish after a short 16 hr grind. Thanks again to all. Ive been making crankbaits for about 2 years and took a stab at a big topwater as the spawn is upon us here and I REALLY wanted a big rat. Its carved out of 1-1/2 round poplar. I did a through wire construction with stainless tig wire. Started it last night and just finished it up ready for paint before dinner. I left the bill long and wide as I like to test and tune my cranks figured I would do it the same with this thing. Weighs in at 2.5oz without any split rings or hooks. My biggest question is do I need to add any weight in the back and does it look like it is going to articulate enough. Any advice is greatly appreciated. 12 inches long with a trickworm tail
