  1. I did search and wasn't able to find a concrete answer to my questions.. Over the past month I've caught several swimbait fish with my biggest of the month nearing 7.. I've hooked two fish larger than that and both time when I was throwing at or near nasty cover ... The two major fish both left with my baits .. My question is what like set ups are you guys throwing .. In using 40lb power pro to throw real gillz and she'll crackers and bbzs and hudds ... All I throw .. For now .. But I don't want to ever lose a lure again from something I can avoid What line set ups are you all using for these baits? Is it a braid and If so what weight .. Is it mono ? Fluro? Flurobraid? Or braid with a Fluro topshot .. Reel in question is a revo toro winch before I get a lexa, nacl, or curado
  2. Are these morning or mid day fish ?
  3. I'm a bluegill swimbait fanatic .. Outside of Cali I like them over any other swimbait ... Sometimes there's nothing you can do and they miss the bait ... I've had it happen when I don't find it possible that I could have reeled Any slower ... In any case nice vids and you still got a few nice fish I saw so ...
  4. Has happened to me a few times .. Most recently the other day when this fish bit
  5. Loosing a big fish WITH your expensive bait in his mouth
  6. I use a revo toro winch for bigger swimbaits right now and it has a low 5.8 ratio that I love .. It really is a winch .. My other reel has a 6.5... For hudds and really slow retrieve baits I use the revo .. When I can speed it up a little like a g2 shellcracker I use my shimano
  7. So I went out with my son to a new body of water and all I see is bluegill and she'll cracker beds so obvious choice is throw my g2 shellcracker ... Slow rolling it gets sucked under and this guy shows up.... Jumped more times than any bad I've ever caught but the hooks on these baits get no complaints from me ... No scale yet but looks to be about a 5.5 fish .... Next morning go at 4 am for a night bite and get nothing til sub peaks up and get slammed in exact same spot as the fish I caught was but misses the bait.. Continue down the bank and find some rocks ( I love banging this bait against rocks omg the strikes) true to form it gets slammed by a by my estimate 7+ lb fish and my 30lb braid gets severed on a rock smh .. Now waiting for real gillz and more shellcracker a to arrive from Cali sigh.. I have a question .. Do most of you fish mono or braid and if braid do you use a topshot? I'm thinking of going to 50lb braid and using a 20ln Fluro topshot leader .. New to swim baits for bass.. Not the ocean ... Just asking ..
  8. You really boned "HookedUp" with your username bro, I know its a hassle but just make a new account I didn't see his name at all because I always use this name ... Funny even have it on some of my custom dry tortuga Rods ... Can the miss change it without me making a new profile I'd be fine with it ...
  9. Honestly I think you'd do better with a slow sink or floater ... I don't even own a fast sink... But for lakes I rarely use more than a 68 a bbz6-8in or a shell cracker ... But when the BBWs are subsurface I get most strikes one of two ways.. Slow rolling like I would a wake bait at my desired depth... And fishing it like a jerk bait with more reel retrieve variations and less actual rod jerks .
  10. looking to purchase a swimbait rod that will handle throwing huds to 8inches .. 8in bbzs .. bullshooters.. and black dog baits at most 6oz thrown.. for now it will be paired to a revo winch and 40lb flurobraid... has anyone used the rod howver and has any opinion on it
  11. im new to the swimbait game can you tell me the specs on the rod?
  12. In .. Being this is my first and I'm new here does the swimbait have to be still in fish mouth when picture taken or just shown ... Also is a digital scale the ONLY accepted scale ? No no a grips ?
  13. Osprey tournament talon .. Then bought a bunch of bbz trouts and hudds at once .. But swimbaiting was something I just bought into because I didn't catch a solid fish on the osprey .. My first solid fish was on the bbz .. I'm a bbz supporter .. I do like other baits but for the money to me it's the best bait out . Especially considering numbers
