Sounds like a sweet utility rod, Jeff. I have a Powell that is similar in taper that I use for everything from frogs to 1oz blades and small swimbaits like rats, G2 crackers, negotiators and 160's, 175's etc. Also doubles as an excellet tool for throwing jerk shads and boot tails for spotted bay bass/calicos here in CA. Paired mine with a Revo Inshore spooled 30lb spectra. Thanks for sharing your excitement!

I feel the Max 765 is a little too soft in the tip to drive the hudd's hook home. At least that was the problem I encountered while fishing the weedless model. Mind you I'm talking about a rod model that's a few years old. However, after seeing the Inferno line up in person, looks to me like the two rods don't have much difference.

I haven't used an inferno, but I still use my Powell Max 765 SB/WB all the time. I feel it's underpowered for 68 special. My prefered use for the 765 is small rats, glide baits.

I like a nail weight in the belly and a 4/0 owner frog hook on the top. The hook is pretty beefy and I like how extra weight on top gives the bait a "nose down" fall when paused.

I've had plenty of success with mine. If you have the oppertunity, I would recommend picking one up. Should you fish it and feel it's not for you, it will be a hot item on the blackmarket. Cheers -
