  3. Chris, I fish the battleshad both ways. When I am trying to get a reaction bite I add the weight and retrieve it quicker. The added weight in the cheeks and the belly seem to allow me to run it a bit faster than without. I also can bang it along the bottom with the weights if they are locked on the bottom. If I am fishing mid water depths and want to keep it relatively slow, I don't weight it at all. Play around with it. I think that there are times when adding weight is beneficial and times when it is not necessary.
  4. Thanks Joe. I was wondering about the LDC's. may give it a try .
  5. Thanks for the feedback. I don't know anything about the f5's but will look into them for sure.
  6. I have been trowing all of my swimbaits on Okuma guide select heavy and extra heavy rods. Like every other technique, I am finally starting to understand that specific types and weights of swimbaits require different rods. I am committed to learning the 6" citizen and the 7" battle shad this fall and spring and need a good rod for these soft baits. Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. One rod that I have been considering is the Dobyn's 807. Not sure if this is even a good starting spot.
  7. actually sent the PM this time. LOL.
  8. Thanks Chris. Great info!!!
  9. I have been seriously contending with the same option. Helix verses Solix. While I have not made the purchase yet, I have made a couple of observations that I think are critical. The Solix has a better display picture. It is crisper and cleaner with better separation making it much easier to identify fish next to objects. Secondly the rate of screen updating when making changes seemed a bit quicker on the Solix. For example, while you are graphing a ledge and change the sensitivity or the contrast the change on the screen happens almost immediately with almost zero lag. At this point, i would say get the best that you can afford. Technology is changing so rapidly that the unit you buy will be obsolete in a few years. To prove my point. The unit that was mentioned by Born 2 fish in an earlier post about the 360, the 1199 unit, is about 6 years old. I have one and love it but, the picture quality and the functionality are so far behind the Helix and the Solix that it is incomprehensible that they even came from the same factory only a couple of years apart.
  10. I'll take two please!
  11. Never done a cash deal and would't consider it unless it was a face deal. Pay pal is the only way to go.

    Price

A bait is worth what ever you are willing to pay for it. I have paid more than I wanted to because I wanted the bait or I had to have it RIGHT NOW. I've also been patient and paid less than what I thought I would have to.

    Rat help

Took the Large Nez rat (brown) to a flooded lake here in North Central Texas yesterday. Cranked/waked it around flooded timber, trees, brush grass and rocks. never had a bite. The water clarity was 12 inches, the sky was fairly clear and the water temp was in the mid 70's. The guy in the back of the boat caught a couple of fish on a beaver style bait so I know that I was around fish. I guess just keep on slinging them?!
