  1. Looking to trade for a Lexa WN-300-HS or will consider selling: Reel was purchased second hand and only used once by me (retrieve too slow for my liking). Aside from a few usual external scratches I found some surface roughness under the handle nut cap and a few of the brake pads were missing (see photos). These do not seem to have any noticeable effect on performance or structural integrity. I like the reel, but not for what I need it for. Please do not hesitate to reach out with questions, reasonable offers, or requests for additional photos. Thanks for looking! Dan
  2. Great catch, congrats! I admire how you kept such a calm and controlled composure, I would’ve been going nuts haha
  3. Very nice…that thing has some momentum!
  4. Toothyfisherman on Facebook (I think) makes a solid retriever…100% success rate so far from a kayak
  5. Zaldaingerous swimbait…kidding kidding Good luck with your search I never was able to throw soft baits with much confidence.
  6. I second this, love my 795 for treble baits up to 3oz (I have the Fury but am sure the Champion is that much better). The handle is medium length I would say…great length for kayaking but maybe a tad short if you are trying to get maximum casting distance.
  7. Update for anyone who might encounter the same problem: I factory reset my camera and it seems to accept charge while recording now. Note that the external battery pack might just extend the battery life and not necessarily charge the camera while recording. Thus it is best to have some charge in your main battery and not rely solely on the external source. Also the battery icon will not show that it is charging when you hit the record button which could be misleading.
  8. I would reach out to Brock to see what his suggestion is. These holes (especially the back one) could also be for material removal to adjust sink rate and not intended to house ballast.
  9. Looks like the Tatula 300XSL has a 42.9ipt retrieve…now that’s a fast reel! I would use this for topwater walking baits, burning multijoint swimmers, or big glides that cover a lot of water. The Calcutta is probably well suited for grinding crankdowns around cover or dragging a soft bait on bottom. Depending on what baits you want to throw and what your fishing style is, you might prefer one over the other. Either reel should be bulletproof and serve you well.
  10. I’m right with you on missing more striper bites than I connect with…or they pull off a few short seconds into the fight. My brother and fishing partner, on the other hand, seems to stick and land almost every striper that he meets. He is typically using smaller glides on mono while I use larger glides on braid to leader. Coincidence? Not sure…it could also be our fishing style and the way that we fight the fish.
  11. Alberto knot for me…it’s what I learned to use for conventional techniques and never felt the need to learn a new one. Never had an Alberto knot fail on me either.
  12. What baits/applications are you going for? Maybe I should lowball your lowball to help take one off your hands
  13. Interesting material…never heard of it!
  14. Why do these only pop up in lefty version haha…glws
  15. This is a great deal if you’re willing to buy: https://swimbaitunderground.com/forums/index.php?/topic/130999-shimano-curado-300-reel/
  16. The worst…nice carve though. Next one will be better all around I can feel it!
  17. I love his building style and execution of concepts…cool baits for sure
  18. Zimmer Baits (formerly Golden Swimbaits) was working on one that looks very nice…although I don’t think they are released yet https://www.instagram.com/p/CilQapVulLf/?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==
  19. You NEED to paint one of those like Dory from Finding Nemo…
  20. Your rod/reel selection can be a big factor. You want something that won’t get in the way but will load up and launch a bait for you. Your back and shoulders will let you know if you are using the right setup or not at the end of a long day.
  21. Looking good! Top bait in a bass pattern would be sweet!
