Wanted to post in here as an update. after thorough experimenting, I found lightening the hooks made a huge difference. On the 168, I’m not full on wrenching fish either so I’m not worried about bending hooks out. Definitely have me my desired action as well.

I really like this idea. Thanks for the tip

Does anyone have experience trying to make an s-waver suspend? been fishing around a ton of structure and I’m tired of snagging my more expensive baits and being worried about not being able to retrieve them or in my case today, forgetting to check line after a cast and casting off my expensive bull glide. for what I’m doing, an s-waver would need to perfectly suspend. is this possible or am I asking for champagne on a beer budget?

Basically what everyone else said. Different strokes for different folks. One thing about braid is that if the bait your using tends to helicopter, braid is more prone to get wound up in the hooks, especially trebles. Lots of guys to braid to fluoro (leader) or braid to mono (also leader) to combat that sort of thing. Some people like that, others don’t. Don’t overlook any one line set up. They all have their pros and cons.

I throw all the toxics in California along with a wavers. In Oklahoma I’ve only had success with the osprey line thrus. I guess I’ll put my brand new rats to the test when I get back.

Awesome! Love the feedback guys! I bought two toxic micro minks because I figured they fit the situation best. I guess I wasn’t too far off track from what you guys like! Really appreciate the feedback! You guys are awesome.

I'm newer to the swimbait scene and I live in california but go to school in Oklahoma. I catch a lot of fish on the big baits while im home but not so much in Oklahoma. The lakes I fish have really stained to muddy water and lots of flooded bushes to flip and fish around. I mostly burn swim jigs over them and catch em really good. But, I want to catch more swimbait fish out in oklahoma. These fish stay shallow year-round here. I'd really like to see what some of ya'll from texas/arkansas/oklahoma throw in these situations and how you fish em. Thanks.
