  1. NICE! Great job on the lure and the even better job getting the largies' approval as well.
  2. Here's a quick swimvid. It has the squarebill lip in and some chevron sticker so you can see it in my dodgy pool. https://www.instagram.com/p/BWXnYBJDxsD/?taken-by=crossmanlures&hl=en If the video doesn't link just click on the instagram link in my siganture
  3. Mid winter here and not fishing much so thought I'd make a crankdown. Ended up making a removable lip/bill. It swims well without a lip and with a square or a diving bill. It makes a great wake but I'm looking forward to fishing it in crankdown mode. I'll post a swim vid when it stops raining. Wrap is from a pic of my PB.
  4. First swimbait I bought was a G2 (from TWH). It arrived here in Cape Town and I rushed it outside to my pool. First cast hit the side and cracked the tail off. Once I stopped crying like a 2 year old who's puppy died, I emailed them asking how I could get another tail. They posted me one free of charge. Great service. You can mail them through their site http://blackdogbaits.bigcartel.com/contact or possibly directly on lunkerpunker@yahoo.com
  5. Good good Wayne. Congrats!
  6. Thanks JC!!! Super generous offer. I hope I never lose it tho.
  7. Those are some quality fish!
  8. The Wells Catfish is similar to the Sharptooth Catfish here in Southern Africa. Try pitching a glide into the reeds/overhangs on the sides of your slower pools. I often get smashed by cats doing that on my local river. Not sure if they are cruising along the structure or waiting in ambush but they are often there like bass. I watched a video on a local flyfisherman casting in the same spot and he gets hit on the 3rd or 4th cast. Theory is the catfish fish by 'sound' and swim over to investigate. Something I'm going try with a glide next time I'm in cat territory.
  9. Nice fish, looks like you guys are enjoying to trip.

    Glide build

    Great looking glide. Well done!
  11. Nice Bryan, first of many no doubt.
  12. Nice Ryan. Great to beat the PB topwater!
  13. Thanks for all the positive comments guys. We finally got some rain here so its cold and wet but at least the water levels are on the rise.
  14. My method for wrapping baits has a foil under layer allowing a subtle shimmer to shine through but for very silver type lures I find it a bit too subtle. While trying out some reinforcements for my epoxy coat I stumbled across an idea for a holographic foil base. I made a slightly deeper profile on an existing lure (the Ranger) to get a more Shad shape and this is the result: It has a 3foot+ glide and , as with my Ranger, it suspends but has a float/popper/sink mode as well. The lure is quite thin and I use a set of Size 2 Mustad KVD Trebles. Someone commented on Instagram that they were too small? As always your comments, pro&con, are always much appreciated

    New glide

    Nice! Wicked looking lure.
  16. What a beast! And you have to more than double that for the record. Can't wait to see the pics and report when you do.
  17. Nice Johnny! Is always great to see them come up and take your lure.
  18. The 'lure mule' finally arrived and, 15 000 miles later, my 3:16 Jr Wake made it to Cape Town (thanks OleechobeeJC). What a great looking lure. Quality, solid feel to it and I was dying to get it wet. We're in massive drought spell here with some of our lakes under 10% but we eventually managed to organize access to a decent piece of water. After a 3+ hour drive we arrived lake side. Luckily for the Wake Jr it traveled in style, attached to my Dobbins and not hidden in/on some mule masquerading as a IT programmer. Kick boats were set up quickly and my wife and I hit the water. At the end of my second cast I paused to appreciate a majestic fish eagle soaring in the dawn sky and BOOM! a fat largie launched out the water to greet the Wake Jr to Africa. We had a fantastic day kicking about in the cold weather. Landed plenty of fishing on the Jr. Some on or just after the pause, some super slow wake and a few cranking it down. Best fish of the day was on a fast retrieve about 4 feet down. It came unbuttoned at the boat just after I screamed "ITS A GIANT!! - as the biggest fish of the day always does...lol Sarah struggled a bit on her plastics until eventually grabbing an Undertaker. She promptly snapped it off on a BEAST! She then stole one of my wakes and landed her first swimbait fish. I think we may have another addict on our hands.
  19. What an awesome session! Bass blasting away your stress and recharging your soul. Thanks for sharing it with us Tim. Love your reports and your pictures, always got a smile on your face.

    New water

Good work Ethan. 3 of the 8 fish I had contact with this weekend came on the "leg scratch". The pause is deadly!
  21. Looks cool. It should have a great action but with those arms I doubt it will actually glide. I'd go weedlesa and just tie a 2nd (& even 3rd) hook to the shank of the first one with some braid while you experiment. If you are going to open pour then use Plaster of Paris for the mould. Will save you heaps of $ and do just as good a job.
  22. Those softbaits look awesome. He has a website www.olalures.se Prices are in Swedish Krone, 1kr = about $0.12 (so just x the kr price by 0.12). Not sure about postage. I've messaged him befor and seems like a good guy. That roach lure ranges from $19 -$26 depending on the pattern.
