  1. I'll hit fish with 300-320 volts at up to 8-10 amps, net them with a nylon net (sometimes 3-4 at a time), lay them on a measuring board/scale, cut fins off and/or notch fins for up to a minute at a time out of water if the fish is uncooperative and haven't killed one yet to my knowledge.....and I'll get hundreds of fish a night. No reports of "fish kills" or "floaters" yet. Been doing this for 14 years...
  2. I manage the fishery at the "winning" lake. I would say based upon the notch on the top of the caudal fin, I would ID it the same fish in both photos.
  3. Hooked a 7ish first time testing a SSS. Didn't have my drag set and it threw the hooks. Haven't thrown it since...no reason why. Swims good at all speeds as I recall. I should probably give it another whirl....
  4. I would recommend going with braid all the way to your bait. I throw mono with a braid leader anymore because I got tired of losing baits when they gator roll and slice mono/fluoro off with their sharp opercular groove. I have not lost a bait yet after making the switch and catch as many as I ever did with "transparent" leader. I've even landed fish lassoed around their head (through the groove) that weren't even hooked.
  5. Fishing is not being banned. Seasonal openers/angling opportunities are on the table to be delayed/postponed/restricted until we get through this Covid-19 pandemic. Unprecedented times call for unprecedented measures. Local communities that DEPEND upon the revenue generated from these openers/seasons/opportunities have requested CDFW take action because A) they are the only ones with authority to do so, B) communities do not want an influx of asymptomatic carriers infecting their communities more so than they already are C) remote communities do not have the medical resources available to deal with an influx of people that may become seriously ill while there to recreate, D) it has been proven that sub sections of society have not abided by the social distancing practices while recreating necessitating the progressively restrictive closures Statewide. The reality is, delaying/suspending/restricting angling seasons/opportunities in the short term, will increase their eventual and annual return in the long run. Sooner hopefully than much later if we don't keep the pandemic in check. This pandemic is bigger than any sense of entitlement regarding non-essential recreational opportunities and if people don't understand that, they are not paying attention.
  6. 6th sense flow glide 130. I use 15 lb mono with a 12-15" 50 lb braid leader. Stripers like to gator roll and slice mono on their gill plate, braid keeps that from happening.
  7. 6th sense flowglide 130 has been killing it for me in SoCal.....in a lake currently without a significant shad population and where nearly all anglers targeting stripers are chasing a trout truck.
  8. I learned an awful lot of the SoCal SB crowd are awfully quiet in the catch category without a truck to chase. I also learned the current CPR every bass culture is working against increasing the opportunity to catch larger bass with greater frequency.
  9. There are still 10-12's in the lagoon, just no more morbidly obese teeners. The lagoon will not be getting any more trout indefinitely.
