I was out one day and had been fishing with a Hudd for about 2 hours. I started to space out while I was slowly winding my reel, I felt a thump and it snapped me out of my daze immediately, I was so surprised that when I went to set the hook my freaking thumb hit the cast button on my reel and I backlashed and lost the fish. It took everything in me not to flip out... I now make sure I have the proper caffeine levels in my system when I'm on the water haha!

So this past weekend I went out 3 times to two different ponds in my local area. The weather has been crazy here in NC with cold fronts, thunder storms, and then heat spikes so it's been a lot of going home with a big fat 0. I crawled a hudd for a good while the first two trips just because I couldn't really get a read on what the bass where doing. I had one smack it (or it was just a stick) haha, so I tied on one of my little Rago Bluegills and said well dang I know there's bluegill here so let's do it. I boiled the tail so it kicks slower and after a couple different retrieves I settled on a nice slow stop and go. I wound up catching 3 all about the size of the picture. Nothing to brag about but after a few weeks of getting skunked it's nice just to actually pull a few fish out to boost that confidence!

Just thought I'd make a post and see if there's anyone on here that lives in North Cackalacky and SC close to the border, I'm in Jacksonville and would love to meet up with some dudes who throw big baits too.

Strangest thing's you've came across while fishing?
Ethanm replied to colbypearson's topic in Down Time
I was fishing a tournament her in NC, my buddy and I were flipping docks along this backwater area. We were behind this house and a naked woman with her hair in a towel walked past the back glass door and saw us and screamed, we started laughing and just kept fishing. Her husband came out back and started yelling at us but we were already a ways down the water haha! -
Yes I do remember that, I guess that's why I'm so confused because there was all this hype and then boom, they're online like crazy for like $25.

I've been seeing a lot of thumper tails for sale in the black market as well as other sites, are they not performing as expected? Is there something else about them that people aren't liking? I've been considering getting one and trying it out, I'd really appreciate anyone's feedback before I make a purchase. Thanks!

Curado for sure. Keep an eye on Ebay as well, I got mine off there for well under $300.

I have been living in Jacksonville, NC for a little over a year now, I fish a few small tournaments with a buddy of mine around the area, but the big baits haven't been wet in a while. If anyone on here lives in North Carolina and would want to meet up sometime and try to find some donkeys, hit me up on here or at 214-385-5444. Thanks Dudes.

I also own one. I use it on lakes as well as inshore marshes. It is super stable, I'm 205lbs and I fish standing in it most of the day as well as bring in fish. It also has a quality dry storage, most yaks dry storage seals leak, but mine actually keeps things dry. I load it onto the roof rack of my SUV, it is a little heavy but nothing unmanageable. I would highly recommend it, especially if you already have your eye on a discounted one. Most other comparable Kayaks with that level of stability are more pricey $$$. Good luck dude!

Hey guys, I searched around a while trying to get an answer, but no dice. I'm super new into throwing big baits. The lake I fish near me here in North Carolina does not have any trout, however it does hold golden shiner. My thought process is to "match the hatch" and go with it, however I have read a lot of comments and posts of dudes saying to just go with a trout color hudd because it doesn't matter. So I'm just kind of at a cross roads right now, I'd appreciate any input , thanks.
