  1. Dang! That was fast. What are they going for from flippers?
  2. Any lakes in the area particularly good big fish lakes? Also any general info on the bass fishing in the area would be appreciated. Thank you.
  3. I am relatively new to the glide bait game but my experiences are below. S waver 168 and 200 are great baits imo. Especially for the $. I also really like the Smith baits hitch X - it is an 8 incher with a super smooth glide that draws fish from way out for me. It is only $80.00 and available on TW. The Deps 175 is a good bait. The 250 is awesome.
  4. That makes much more sense. Thanks for posting.
  5. Zaldain said which one he used on stage. It was a big one. Is there a 3?? series I don't know that lineup at all.
  6. Tremendous bag. I was pulling for Ehler. I had hoped he would pull it out. Lee seems to be a good dude also.
  7. Well there you go. Zaldain chucked a big glide all day the final day.
  8. You may be right. They said it numerous times on the classic show yesterday. I was surprised so I tried to Google it without success. So I don't know.
  9. yeah. I understand that. However I don't think for a second those guys don't use stuff that doesn't sponsor them. All of them do. I have two good friends that fish tourney's professionally. They all use stuff from non sponsors. They want to win first and foremost. If they win using a non sponsor bait they nor their sponsors care. If they win their sponsors get all of the coverage anyway. The real reason you don't have more chucking big swimmers is confidence imo. Most of those guys don't fish for big fish. They fish for 5 - 6 lbers and numbers. Thus they don't put in the time to learn big baits. Zaldain and Palaniuk are the only two I know of that have them in their boats and use them during tourney's. I understand that when you are fishing for your house payment making a check is supremely important thus numbers matter. That said my original comment was intended for a specific circumstance. Ehler and Evers had big sacks early in the day. If I was either of them on THAT LAKE. A lake with lots of docks, sea walls, clear water on the end of the lake most known for giants I would have spent the later portion of my day fishing for a kicker giant. Given the lake, time of year, and conditions I would have been tossing a big glide bait near that cover trying to draw out some giants. JMO. I know big baits aren't mainstream and most of us on this forum are glad about that however Conroe seems to be a heck of a set up for success based on the coverage. I have never been there nor do I know anything about the history other than the share a lunker stuff they talked about during the show.
  10. Hinkle, HPH, Deps, phoney, smith hitch x, pizz xl, something. I don't know what the grub de jure is for the bass in Conroe, but damn a glide on that south end where the water was clear and the fish were shallow? I would love to know if someone tried it. Please prove me foolish for shouting about this but I expect no one did it. SMH. Frankly part or me hopes it never happens. I don't want every tom, dick and harry chucking 8" + baits but I would expect a couple of the elite series guys to at least have some experience with big baits. I know Palaniuk and that Cali kid do. Maybe they threw em some without success. I don't know. Seems like a nice set up for a big swimmer with big fish on a pressured lake, multi stage fish in a region that doesn't get a ton of swimbait pressure etc etc. Again I am no tour pro (far from it) so TIFWIW.
  11. Dang bro. Putting up some sumatran rhino rare stuff. GLWS!
  12. This post is LOL funny. Sorry it happened but your post is funny!
  13. i have no problem with how BASS does things. i am just surprised by how the anglers attack. If I had 20 lbs an was looking for a kicker would i continue to pitch, switch to a drop, or throw a big swimbait (glide imo) on a lake with a bunch of rockstars swimming. I would go to the south of the lake and chuck it against the docks and seawalls for a stud. jmo and I aint on the tour so tifwiw. lol!
  14. This may not be a popular topic here but I am an ex tourney fisherman. Still hit one rarely, but I do follow it peripherally. This classic is being lead by Brent Ehler who has a good pitching bite going. I am surprised one of the leaders that has a nice sack isn't targeting numerous docks and seawalls with a big glide bait or something to catch one of those Conroe monsters. For those that don't know Conroe is responsible for the most submissions to the Tx share a lunker program than any other lake. The entry weight is 13 lbs. I know a couple of guys throw em occasionally but dang if I had 18 - 20 lbs in my livewell. I would chunking a glide to match the prominent forage in that lake looking for a stud or two. Thoughts? anyone care?
  15. I have been trying to find a dock rat one piece gill.
  16. I can't find any vids? I even went on the Deps site and attempted to make my way through Japanese characters to find some. Nada! Anyone have something?
  17. Any recs for Toledo Bend guides?
  18. Anyone know what hooks Matt uses? Do you normally change yours? They look fairly light.
  19. I have 3 of the new ones and they glide wonderfully. I bought one of the OGs because it was in a color I really wanted to try. I am not much of a tinkerer so I won't adjust anything anyway.
  20. The fact that the bait profile and colourway are an orca is appropriate imo.
