  1. You should be fine I've only ever had two bass bend out the hook. But one was a freak that bent out 3/0 st36 on a 14 inch super slammer I have that weighs about 10 plus ozs. I don't think there's a better rod for gaint treble hook baits than the 908 that's under $300. I bank beat so I only bring one rod with me and the 908 can do about everything I need rather its a 7.5 rago weedless paddle tail. Large alpha rat with st36 or the alpha sewer rat with 4x owner st66 or 9.5 alpha and 11inch alpha trout rigged weightless or weedless or I need to throw my 13inch hardtool and alphaking . I haven't found a better rod under $300 that can do all that Tho gaint lunker punker style baits I would prefer a shorter rod but it'll do the trick for your slobsticks and megadawgs. I would prefer a shorter lighter rod for those baits so I don't get fatigue as fast.
  2. To me its more important to set the hooks into whatever way the hooks are facing on the bait. I hate having a jig hook bait and belly hook on the bait because I don't know if I should do a sweeping Hooksett or a jig hook set. So I just have two hooks on the bottom or two hooks on the top of the bait.
  3. I set the hook. But I have my drag set loose enough to give line before the owner/36 bend out.
  4. Also you can bend out 36st 1/0 with 25lb p line tactical to get your baits back, may not work a 100% of them time, but greater than 40% In my opinion.
  5. Personally I feel the 908 the max you want throw is 17oz. Is there better rods to threw a pounder for sure. But I feel like it's the best with enough tip you don't bend out 1/0 owner 36 but it has enough back bone to set the hook on a 9/0 to a 12/beast hook as well as a enough backbone to set the hook and tip to land fish on a 4x 66st and a a 5'X bike raptor the rod had enough tip not not to bend out owner owner 36 1/0 on a consistent basis. This production rod does the best of both worlds outside G Loomis rod series. I don't think there's a prouduction rod that does it better for baits that are 3ozs to a 16ozs for single hooks baits to 16oz treble hooks baits that does both outside of g-loomis. I dare anyone with there custom rods to point a better brand under 300 bucks. I feel confident on that matter because your can't have one rod that does it all.
  6. Don't mind beat up versions of any of the the baits listed.
  7. Want to trade toxic mink for a 11 inch glidator in trout, rago middle, or little G. Also interested in a melosh hatching turtle or a 3 piece XXL nezzuma rat. Bait comes with the original Tail and a illude tail as well as a #4 mustad musky snap.
  8. Well now I know who out bid me. Congrats on the bait.
  9. Danny rago has some gaint squawfish that were 12 plus pounds. All caught on swimbaits one of them was on a rat even. I had one about 6 pounds following my 9.5 alpha trout that got wash out in one of the bass ponds I fish. They eat swimbaits I don't care to catch them. They fight hard at the beginning but I feel like they kinda give up pretty fast.
  10. 100% i keep one in my trunk save my butt a few times. Been so long I've had to use it i forgot about that. The life of a dirty bank beater.
  11. Pair of goggles and a snorkel depending on how dirty this local pond is some hepatitis shots just in case lol, but for real just feel lucky to be able to swim to your baits. Not every on here that lucky, because you know Gators. I feel blessed that I have the option of the Polar Plunge up north. But no bait is worth dying over be careful and the best of luck to you.
  12. My buddy caught a few owls. One felt the tug gave it one of those FLW Hooksets thing smack the water hard. He thinks its a bass flailing on top of the surface. So he his rod tip in the water trying to keep her head down. Thing gets about 15feet in front of us then we realized its an owl. Owl was fine he was allittle soggy not that happy to see us. Just another night fishing.
  13. Not sure if they are trying to bite it. The 2 I've hook into i felt a bump and swung on it. In my area they come right up to my wake baits. I just rip from them and reel as fast as I can so don't hook up. I wish they would leave my bait alone. They put up one hell of a fight when you hook up tho. I tried to find a youtube video of a guy who caught one on the slammer on the delta but I can't find the video anymore its a few years old. But I hook them in the face I allways carry a huge net with me while I'm bank beating and long needle noses pliers. Haven't hook any with the 3/0 4x st66 I got on some of my gaint wakebaits. It be a nightmare trying to those out of them.
  14. Me and my friend caught 5 birds in one week. We caught more birds than fish. We caught 2 ospreys and 3 geese all accidents of course last thing I need 100plus bait to go flying away never to be seen again. We just throw our jackets on them and breakout the pliers. Wait until you hook a big beaver there's so many of them where I live and they do nothing to control there population. I aways have them going after my wake baits when night fishing. But the old komodo 463 with 80lbs braid with 30pound drag puts a whoopin on them. I've only caught two so far. I would rather it not happen because I allways worry about them wrapping me in a tree and breaking me off. Its not fun trying to Unhook a pissed off beaver fighting for its life but still they swim across the lake and attack my wake bait. I hope they will learn but they don't so I just live with it.
  15. Figure 8 is what muskie guys use where the baits in the water usually with the rod tip in the water and the try to make the figure 8 as wide as you can. The 8 trap is alot more aggressive and lot smaller than a normal figure 8. And with the 8 trap its usually on the surface but doesn't have to be and your bait can be just skating on top of the surface with your bait rolling on its side it doesn't have to facing up and down. Here's a good video of people using it
  16. Also before I go into a 8 trap. I do figure 8's first than go into 8 traps when I fish a glide.
  17. Nothing yet i mostly use it as a search bait. I've only have had two 5 pounders take a swipe at it while 8 trapping. I got this bait back in June. I think this bait is really going to shine for me and get bit is going to be in the springtime. When there's alot more big fish shallow, really aggressive and feeding hard. I've allways done alot better with the mega size baits from January to June. I had this bait at very end of post spawn but boy it was getting alot of interest. The bait floats but a few fast twitches with the rod tip down in the water it will go subsurface. I haven't tried night fishing with it yet. Because it seems to me at night it doesn't matter how big of a bait you use. The 2 pounders still smack it.
  18. I've also gotten a few to bite making a glide 360 a few times in one direction then make it 360 other direction. But I work 5 pounder like this for about almost 2 mins before it cut it off and headshot.
  19. Well know thinking about it. I say more then a handful of fish. But bigger the fish the more likely im able to get them to bit when I get followers.
  20. I 8 trap them, I've only caught a handful of fish doing it. The bigger fish more likely they will bite when 8 trapping for me. I have a hard time getting the 3.5 lbs and 4.5lbs bass to bite when I do it. I've tried 50+ times to 8 trap with rat baits and only had 2 bass try to nip at the bait. With glidebaits and soft baits I can usually get them to bite I say 1 out 4 to 5 times. But bigger the bass more likely I'm able to get them to commit. With rat baits I fill like you better off to make sure the bass doesn't see you and just twitch it.
  21. That is misleading, thank you for straightens that out for me.
  22. I want a power handle so far the biggest and cheapest reel handle I can find is gomexus 120mm was looking for a cheaper alternative but I want the 145mm for cranking power for my Dinero 550
  23. I thought about settling with the 120mm handle from them. Just wanted to knew if anyone else's makes a 145mm handle. I will take a power handle model thats what I would prefer
  24. was looking for reel handle for my tranx for my manifold. I want one of those 145mm handles. But I can't bring myself to spend $200+ on a reel handle. Not hate'in on those who buy DRT handles. Is there anybody selling a 145mm handle for cheaper than DRT?
