  1. Those are pretty bad ass... They look expensive...
  2. While fishing this morning a guy walked down his back yard with a bucket, then launched a garden snake (about 20" long) into the pond. I watched as it moved through some lily pads toward the shore, then KABOOM. Gone. Other than big rubber worms, I don't think there's anything I can think of that emulates a snake. There are a lot of eel baits out there, but what about top water snakes? Any one use anything with success?
  3. Beat up plugs look like beat up fish! Easy meal... They see all the hook rash and think "that one must taste good!"
  4. My 9" slammer is in bass color. It gets hit really hard by the smaller fish during the day. I've yet to catch anything bigger than 4lbs on it, but it shows potential. Most fish are at least a little cannibalistic I think. But you have to wonder... Are they trying to eat it or mate with it?
  5. I've been using mine with the chin-tie, and it stays just sub surface. I also took the feathered hooks off. I've gotten slammed a few times with it but for whatever reason they don't stay pinned.. Paint is still ok but it's missing an eye, the plastic fin/wings get dinged up very easily.
  6. I would start near any structure you can find... Rock piles, docks, lily pads, weeds, trees. Then work out from there, I'd throw the Hudd near the structure, then try breaking it down with a jig or rubber worm... If it's that hot, they'll probably be under docks or out deep...
  7. @bigslant I have an old *old* 6500 c4... It makes all sorts of fun noises but it's still functional
  8. Not that it's the same noise, but my Abu makes a buzz when I cast it. Again, I'm not familiar with your reel, but usually doing a good cleaning and adding oil will usually *minimize" the buzz.
  9. Hi all! I'm new to the site but not new to bass fishing. I bought my first Huddleston 6 years ago as a result of a gargantuine bass taking a small trout I was fighting on my 4 at fly rod. Since then I have mostly concentrated on saltwater fishing. I recently moved inland and will be focusing the remainder of this year and next year entirely on MA freshwater. NOW! I am experimenting with the gear I have. A true swimbait setup will come this winter. Right now I have one combo with 20lb mono, and one with 50lb braid. We all know the pros and cons of mono vs braid on paper, but I'm curious as to what you guys use with certain baits, conditions, setups, and why. My heavier setup right now is an Abu 6500C4 on a shimano teramar inshore 1-4 oz, with 20lb suffix siege. And the other is a BPS graphite series MH and a Pro qualifier with 50lb braid that I've been using for baits 1pz and lighter. I mostly throw a 9" slammer, spro-rat, jackal gantarel, savage line thrus, and 6" hudd.
  10. Is anyone using this reel? It's on a few different websites, but not the okuma site. I like okuma products and looking for a new swimbait setup...
  11. I have a live target swimbait with a lip that dives down to about 10. They basically take their normal baits and throw crank air lips on them. I've caught a few small fish on it in the same situations where we were usin regular crank baits... No reason the bigger version wouldn't work.
