Some of the best fish catching patterns I regularly paint now are some of my early mistake patterns!!! it does not matter what we think, it's what the fish do!

The only problem is from the upper river system to the Delta I have seen quite a few variations!! I remember the smaller ones being subdued on the colors.... what I remember was brown/green to hue of gold to yellow fade... I am sure whatever you come up with would be great.

That would be an excellent base with some brown up top with light gold faded to yellow, but the fish will decide!!

In my opinion the line tie is about 1/4" to low and why your getting blow outs.

Each state has different laws, In Arizona we actually have harassment laws for outdoorsmen that can be charged as felonies. So know your Laws and local Game warden.

Don't give up!! Paint is the least of your worries, joint location and weight location should be some of your first issues.

Lexan/Polycarbonate will take more abuse than regular plexiglass, if you are doing it yourself ....drill (1/16 bit ) small divots where the bill will be covered by the bait and use 24 hour Epoxy to glue in... doing it this way the bait will normally fail before the lip.

KO'S come from either lack of availability/Price or the lure is just that good, I understand taking the high ground but I can promise you that any KO will not have the movement/action of any original custom bait. You can't protect people from their own ignorance. How many people can actually tell the difference between a KO and the real thing ....especially in a picture? Intent comes to mind also, So is the punishment the same for someone who knowingly tried to pass a KO the same as someone who did not know? Personally I buy baits to fish not to flip/resell. This seems like a blanket statement that is still being thought all the way through, So might I suggest not only to say that this is not allowed but how/what will be done if it does happen.
