  1. Id say more parabolic than a graphite rod but it has a decent backbone for bamboo. I also have a cheap BFS combo I agree it is very fun too.
  2. I been fishing my gancraft 70 but on a much different setup, super fun bait! I've got mine on a 6'6'' bamboo orvis spinning rod from 1959. Felt like a rod like that deserved a good reel, so slapped a stella 1000sspg on there. Too much fun to fish I haven't used a baitcaster since I got it
  3. I fished 6in tubes for lake trout the other day. They glide back and forth a couple feet when vertical jigging them. Very unpredictable action.
  4. I've fished from my friends inflatable SUP a few times, it's pretty useful to get into place you gotta hike into, But i'd take a kayak over a non-inflatable SUP.
  5. I would think large fish are proportionally less likely to be caught because i'm sure that's part of the reason a lot of them get big. So in breeding these large fish there's a possibility they are getting more fish that are LESS likely to eat baits, because the gene pool of larger fish is likely a higher proportion of fish that generally don't eat baits. It probably all balances out in the end and there's no measurable effect, only larger fish.
  6. Adirondacks have some giant bass!
  7. Damn this makes me jealous. A few more days and its tiger time for me.
  8. I have decided to dedicate my spring break to catching a Lake Trout (or possibly a big brown) on swimbait gear. I caught several on my winter break on large jerkbaits so it seems like the next step is a swimbait. These fish were feeding in open water when I was catching them, so I want to get an idea of the baits that they'd go for in really clear, deep water. My initial thoughts are Tiny Klash and S-waver so a more natural presentation. The other way I've caught them is on goby imitations bottom fishing, so if there are any good big goby imitations anyone knows about I'd love to hear about them.

    A little lean

    I knew I wasn't the only one
  10. This year has been very tough for swimbait fishing for me. Going into last night, my biggest largemouth of 2022 was 3lb 11oz and that was caught on an ultralight when I was fishing for walleye. I decided to fish a lot around this full moon and try to get one giant for this year before I head off to college. Right as the moon began to go behind the hill behind me, a slight rain picked up and I immediately hooked a giant. Of course I didn't have my scale or measuring board, but measured against my rod the the largest 3 went 22.75, 20.5, and 19.75. Based on how fat the fish are in this lake, The largest one was a probably mid 6s (a 21 inch fish I caught prevuously had a similar build and weighed 6lb2oz) and the other 2 fish one approaching or right at 5lb and the 3rd mid 4s. I also managed to get the worst possible pictures of these fish but I don't really care I am more just happy to get on a decent bite after such a long drought. Not sure if the big one beats my PB of 6lb 7oz but it is for sure the longest bass i've ever caught. The Bull Rat has now caught 2 of my 3 biggest bass ever, so id highly recommend this bait. The pictures are from the biggest one only IMG_2956.MOV
  11. Foanyone that fishes big baits in the Adirondacks, what baits or colors do you use? I catch lots of medium smallmouth and largemouth on conventional gear, but fish on big baits is always very difficult for me there. I caught 1 last year at 6lb 7oz on a rat, but in the rest of the week there I did not catch another fish at night. The lake I fish is the typicall stained dark brown color.
  12. Have you seen the full video of him trying to catch the GT by following its wake around. Had to be one of the coolest fishing videos i've seen.
  13. 1000 dollars for drt merch is wild
  14. That is interesting and not what I would have thought. Are these any other 2 piece wakes that would also work?
  15. I fish a heavily pressured lake, that doesn't see too many big baits but lots of standard stuff. Despite the main forage being trout, I caught a number of fish last year in a rat. Im looking to get a trout wake to further pinpoint a bait. Im thinking ill either go with the Mattlures Meathead or MS slammer 9''. Does anyone have an opinion on 2pc vs 3pc for night fishing and highly pressured fish.
