  1. Well I dabbled in throwing swimbaits yearsss ago. A guy I worked with sold me a BPS inshore rod, some bluegill bait made by a guy in Georgia, a rising son, and a few little boogers. First night I lost the bluegill, hooked into a monster, was climbing down the rocks to go get him and gave him to much slack, he ran the line across some rocks and my line broke, I was heartbroken, would've been my PB at that time. Did pretty well on the rising son and booger, then decided to get a slammer. Did really well on the slammer caught my PB of 6lbs with it. Then I snagged it on a downed tree on the downside of a raging waterfall, no retrieving that ugg another bait gone. After that I didn't really have the funds to keep my fishing habit going at the same rate, so feel back into the senkos, jigs, and cranks deal. This past fall I decided to go hard at swimbaits again this upcoming season. Got a Dobyns champ 796 during the TW christmas sale, and just got the 13 A3. Picked up a few slammers, some hudds, and a few other baits. We'll see how that goes this season! I can't wait for ice out up here in MA!
  2. Yea i'll prob stay away from crimping for now, i'd more than likely botch it! If I do anything like that it will probably be what Matt Allen shared in a video about using single strand connected to the jig hook using a haywire twist, looks easy enough. But from the sounds of what you guys are saying, jig hook is the way to go, nothing more. I'll prob go that route and if I feel i'm getting alot of short strikes try something else.
  3. Yea i've heard boiling them is good. Is it just for straightening everything out or does it give it a little more action?
  4. Just picked up an 8inch hudd, it will be my first go with them. I have used the 68's but saw no need to add any additional hooks. I'm in MA so I wont be catching the true giants. So i'm wondering how you all like to rig your hudds? Leave it as is with the tophook, BB rig, belly hooks, single strand connected to the jig hook, etc... I see so many ways to rig it and not sure what the most beneficial way will be. Thanks!
  5. In, pretty cool this community does this kind of thing so often! I'm new to the community and swimbaiting, finally got a setup to throw these baits on. Got a few hudds and a mattlures, would love to add this as my topwater go to!
  6. Congrats to the winners! Great this community does this kind of thing!
  7. Congrats to the winners! Great this community does this kind of thing!
  8. You forgot to mention the now changed to 12+ inches of snow coming Tuesday!
  9. I just picked up an A3 last week, so far it seems solid. I chose that over the tranx for the 6.3.1 ratio. I needed something a little more all around and opted for that speed over the the tranx offerings. Casting distance is nice, holds a bunch of line, and isn't to bulky in my opinion. Thoughh i've only been able to throw it for an hour or so, in between sheets of ice....
  10. In, thanks for the opportunity!
  11. So shitty, it's gonna get so cold then 6-8inchs Tuesday....sets things back a little.
  12. Just got the Texas tackle orange the other day, they are great. They've worked on the bigger split rings on the 316 wake jr or 9 inch slammer as well as on my smaller square bills.
  13. Yea you can add to cart, but the transaction errors out at checkout unfortunately. Side note looks like he's got some 4" No Bulls in the works!
  14. Looks like this guy just posted more today and people are still buying...shame. Looks like he posts real ones.
  15. Ahh good to know, I got my Male hardgill SS last week! Maybe i'll just stick with that for now.
  16. Hey all, long time reader first time poster. I'm looking into getting one of these two baits, the TT Gill or a wood sinking shell cracker. I've seen some iffy reviews on the wood shellcrackers durability here, soo i'm a little hesitant to pull the trigger. What's the action of the shellcracker, gliding or more of a swimming action? Of these two which would you guys recommend, or if there's something else, i'm open to suggestions! Thanks in advance!
