That's the biggest green sunfish I've ever seen! Epic flipside!

Salt water will makes your bait more bouyant so if you want the bait to go below the surface I'd go with a Deps 250 and add some tungsten putty to get the bait to sink. You can also add wait in the tail cavity.

Wow, if she would have only ate a bit more she'd definitely hit ten. Beautiful girl!

I prefer 1/0. Ive tried size 1 and 2/0 but the first was too small and the second was far to big. Size five Owner hyper or ultra wire split rings are the best in my opinion.

They seem to stick into the skin less on the bait, which means more time fishing. When a fish bites the bait they always get two points per hook. I hardly ever loose fish. I eventually switched out all of my trebles to quads and never turned back. In addition to the quads, I double slit ring the hook to keep the split ring from binding and breaking.

I'm a big fan a matching the hatch. Clear water or dirty bait doesn't change color. I've caught fish on silly, bright and flashy colors but most of my success has been with matching the local forage. Although a subtle contrasting color on the top or bottom of a realistic paint job can help the fish see your glide.

Solid East coast fish! It always feels so good to be rewarded when the elements are working against you. -
Klash 9 Recommended Lips, Tails And Modes

Okay that makes more sense now. When I was reading the post I was scatching my chin thinking of putting a nail weight in the tail and suspending strips in the slot for the lip. Thank you for confirming and forgive my ignorance. -

Great link! There was a video that shows all of the benefits of using grenade waits. Banging the bait along the bottom looks productive. -

Thanks again chefchris! Not too sure if a board weight is just a nail weight or something else. But Mike Gilbert had a tutorial on using a toothpick to keep from losing tails. So I bet a nail weight would play two rolls. Interesting how the weight goes in the back when usually it would go up front under the chin. Also the thin wire I guess is used to add a bit more weight and stiffen the tail? Very innovative ideas. -

This link should help, they walk you through the whole game. The consensus for winter is slow and slower. Using lures that have action at uber slow speeds. Figure out were there's rock next to bait. For example if you have trout, they like mud flats. Find rock next to mud flats. The bass will stay real tight to the rocks to stay warm. When the sun is beating the rocks the bass will become active and head over to the bait. So I always sleep in and fish the middle of the day during winter. I've had the best luck with this pattern.
