  1. Decided to make a video covering what was likely my best day on the water in 2021. I cut out some of the smaller catches for times sake to avoid a 10 minute video of me smashing on a bunch of rats. I’ll give a summary to explain what happened on this awesome day for anyone who cares to know some details. Launched the boat shortly after sunrise and headed straight to a point where I had a handful of good follows the week before. Upon approach I noticed an eagle perched on one of the trees overlooking it. Good sign… I pulled up under that tree against the bank and started fishing the bait uphill. I caught fish on my first 3 casts, and before hooking up I would see a boil or two on or near the bait before they would eat it. I realized quickly it was multiple fish competing for the bait and I was in for some fun… After the third fish I made another cast and got boiled on right away and had them follow to the boat but didn’t fully connect. Fired off another bomb cast out to the deep side of the point(around 3:00 mark) and a few cranks in the bait got pounced on and immediately after leaning in to it I knew it was a bigger fish… after a botched net job I got her in the boat and she went 6.5, nice… Continued fishing on the point for another hour or so and noticed as the sun got higher it was pushing them deeper and less fish were coming up for it. Caught another handful of fish including one around 4lbs before the bite winded down. Once it started to get hot and the sun was high I began to look for deeper cover and was working deep shade lines but getting little results. Decided to bail on that part of the lake and headed to an area that had more of the deeper cover available. Pulled up to the area and my first cast was on a big piece of vertical cover. (Around 5:30 mark) My bait landed 10 feet or so from it, but within a few cranks the bait felt like it hung up on something and it caught me off guard as I knew the cover was still several feet away. Finally my brain started working and I leaned in to what felt like another good fish. She ended up going 6.3 and was my last bite of the day. Thanks for taking the time to watch. Very grateful to have people take time out of their day to watch my ugly mug and I really appreciate you guys that support me and my content with your likes, comments or other algorithm feeding actions…
  2. No covid closures this spring so I was able to execute the loose plan I had for attacking my local lakes. Had some good results, in fact quite possibly my best prespawn with swimbaits. Was able to capture most of it on video thankfully so here is some of the highlights from my glide bait bites. Soft bait bites will have their own episodes. Enjoy and as always likes, comments and subs are greatly appreciated.

  10. Been a pretty mild winter here in WA so Ive been having success on conventional stuff since January, but hadn't picked up the big stuff yet until the other day(friday). I had just gotten a new FR 806 in the mail earlier in the week so I wanted to get out and see how it handles my 8.5s and an 8inch hudd, so off to a shallow local lake to see how it does. With the water temps somewhere in the low to mid forties I wasn't expecting anything to happen, but the sun came out when I got on the lake and a light breeze teased the surface so I had a good feeling. After making a few casts with the other two baits I had brought I decided it was time try the soft tail 8.5 since it is more responsive to a slow retrieve and has a bit slower rof. I fished it for about an hour working it past the ends of docks and over grass then I made a cast parallel to the edge of some flooded reeds and felt the bait stick to something. I was caught off guard so I hesitated on setting the hook, but when I finally did the rod loaded and and she was there still. Gave up pretty quickly, but I grinded her in anyway. She only went 4.11 but for my first big bait fish of the year and first fish on that rod I was stoked. Yet alone the water being pretty frigid still. Ended up having another one follow it in on a "bad cast" that was a bit bigger, but by the time I realized she was there I spooked her. Came back a half hour later and drew her again, but she wasn't showing the same signs of aggression and was reluctant to close in. Nothing else, but left the lake satisfied!
  11. Been grinding my new 8.5 soft tail for the last couple weeks since I got it and have been drawing quite a few fish, but have been struggling with getting them to eat it. Well we got nice couple days of hot weather here in my area this week so I figured they'd be chewing. Got out for a few hours the other day after work to fish a small acreage and very shallow lake local to me. Had just about fished the whole thing when I made it to a dock with a lay down next to it. Pitched my bait up shallow between the dock and lay down and turned my head away looking around for where to make my next cast and made two reel turns when the bait stuck. It felt like twig or rope at first so without even turning to look I popped the rod tip up once to try to free it and kept my head turned. When I finally looked over I saw the fish trying to shake it free and panic set in. I grinded her to the boat and noticed she was barely hooked so rather than reaching for the net I flipped it in my tiny boat and thankfully she sat still haha. She went 5.11 and was definitely one of the biggest fish in this tiny lake.
  12. Hit the lake at 130am to fish through sunrise and the water was a lot dirtier than we expected. I threw a g2 shell cracker and my buddy was throwing a jackal mikey. We caught about dozen small fish so we decided to upsize as the sun started coming up. My buddy starts throwing a bbz rat and catches one just shy of 4lbs almost right away so I tied on the 8.5 hard tail. A few casts in I had a smaller fish hit the bait and miss the hooks so I slowed my retrieve a bit and started giving the fish more time locate it. Not long after, I make long cast past the end of a dock and make the bait dart out quick after clearing the edge and this fish crushed it. Two casts later on a floating dock I had another big fish smack the bait hard and leave a big vortex but it missed the hooks. No more action after that and my buddy had to go to work so we called it. Sorry bout the sideways pics
  13. Got a 6.4 on the Hiro Trout in Perch. This fish and one the same size followed it back to the boat, and luckily they stayed there long enough so I could get another cast at them.
