I was pretty bummed that I had to sell a lot of my cool stuff and in the excitement of this weekend I had forgotten that I ordered this. Needless to say I was very happy to open up the box to this beautiful 10" Melosh woody.

Finally fished mine. North Delta, the wind kept us out of the Sacramento River most of the time so we tucked up in a few sloughs. I caught a couple 4lb largies and a few smaller ones on the FOM. Mines a ss and was tough to keep down more than a foot which was fine in this situation but I might put some heavier split rings and hooks on it to help it sink in deeper water.

I fished it a little this moring. Pretty choppy water and I didn't tie a loop knot. Tricky to walk in those conditions but it looked good when it did. I'll tie it on a loop knot next time which should help.

I bought a few baits off Shawn and he got them shipped promptly... and he runs a Basscat so I know he's a cool dude.

I have a Lew's SD on my 795, already had it on another rod so I just did a little shuffling and used what I had. If I was buying a reel for it I'd definitely go with a SD wide spool. I have to be careful casting punker on my SD or I'll spool it.

Awesome fish, very jealous of those who live close enough to that lake to fish it regularly.

I guess I'll let you guys know what I think of this topwater but if it walks half as good as it looks it's a winner for sure.

Anybody fish a Melosh woody topwater? I just ordered one thinking it'll be a nice happy medium between my 6" and 8" punker but with a bit slimmer profile? Wondering how it walks if anybody knows.
