  1. Got my first swimbait fish today on an S-Waver 168. The bite had died down on my chatterbait so I figured what the heck, I'll throw the S-Waver. First cast, and I pulled in a 3 pounder. Dobyns Fury 806 and Tranx 300 performed flawlessly. I know this isn't a big deal to most of you, but when that bait got hit I dont think I've ever been so excited while fishing. Gonna start throwing it a lot more now that I have a little more confidence in it.
  2. Line was loose. Will unspool and use electrical tape. Lesson learned.
  3. I'll have to check that in the morning. No backer. But it won't even pick up a s waver 168 off the ground while reeling.
  4. Braid. Have only cast it like 10 times max.
  5. Anybody had any problems with the drag on a Tranx? I've only fished with mine once and everything was fine. Went to tak3 it out yesterday and had no drag whatsoever no matter how hard I neared down on the drag star.
  6. So on a Dobyns 806 I should be good with about a 7' leader? Will be using an FG knot.
  7. How long of a leader do you guys usually use going from braid to mono/flouro?
  8. Found a Tatula HD on eBay for $128.00. Couldn't really pass it up.
  9. Bit the bullet and went with the 795. Now need help with reel decision. Lew's Super Duty, Shimano Tranx, Tatula HD, or 13 Fishing A3.
  10. I'm still trying to figure all of this out and I have just about decided on the Fury 795. Along with the soft baits I listed in the original post, will the 795 be ok for the Gantarel and S waver 168 and 200?
  11. Would the 806 be ok for the baits listed so if I did decide to go heavier later I'm already set up or should I just get the 795 for now and then the 806 for when I decide to go heavier? Would rather not buy 2 rods but if the 806 is too overkill for those baits then I will.
  12. Just getting into swimbait fishing and I'm gonna stick with soft baits for now. Was wondering if the Fury 806 would be a good rod to start with. Will mainly be throwing the Hudd 68, 6" Rising Son, and 6" Ospreys. Should I go with the Fury 806 or Fury 795? Thanks in advance!
