Swimbait Underground Bait Share - Traveling Slammer

I work as a guide at a pike lodge in northern Canada and we catch a lot of pike and a lot of big pike - 25+ lbs and over 200 a day. Titanium is the way to go, for sure bar none. Everything else eventually wears out - but 7 strand titanium stays tough. Terminator titanium leaders are the bomb - 100 lbs and either 9 or 12 inches long. Eventually, the clasp will fail (250+ fish) but this happens with every single clasp ever. Replace with a 100+ lbs split ring and it's good as new - pain in the a$$ though. Pike done care about the wire anyways and 0% chance of getting bitten thru, which I've seen happen with mono/fluro up to 280 lbs. 99% chance that 180+ lbs mono/fluro won't get bitten thru when it's brand new....but do you really wanna take the chance? I've tried everything twice and terminators are still my go-to leader. Just my .02

I've got 2 from a brand called surf monkey and I really like em - less expensive than other brands too. But, they fit really tight when you get them. I just stick mine over a 6 pack of beers for a night before hitting the water with it

Check out @the_basshole_ on Insta - he's offering re-paints on a "donation" basis right now and has put out some really great stuff. I think he's on the underground but dunno his handle

Found a close up of this big mother pea

Post an update, would be greatly appreciated

How does it do against heavy cover? Thats the same reason it appeals to me - can have 80 lbs braid with the same diameter as 65 lbs. But, I dont know about durability

I'm wondering the same bcuz other than the line capacity they're virtually the same reels - same drag, inches per crank, # of bearings too. In my experience, I didn't find the 400 better or worse with larger fish....just the same

That's what I'm thinking- but 25% thinner sounds amazing/too good to be true...seems like it could be the sh!t

Hey guys, haven't seen much up here on this. Wondering if anyone has tried it? Mixed reviews on all tackle sites - ranging from garbage don't waste your money to best braid ever. Hoping for some first hand knowledge from the community...thanks guys Posted in flipside the first time by accident like a dummy

That looks amazing...great colour choices too. Gonna have to try some out

Any tips for targeting LM thru the ice? Always wanted to get one, but they seem to vanish when the hardware hits here

Pass on the 13....if you're on a budget, curado 300

300 is the ish! Comfortable and dependable. Sits a little tiny bit high on the rod but nothing to complain about. I like the 300 better cuz it's just way more comfortable....For me. Plus, it holds more than enough line if spooled with the proper tension - braid, mono, fluro or co-poly. But, everyone is different. Also I've thrown 16 oz lures on my 301 ahg and had no issues. The new Hagane Body, Coreprotect and X-Ship makes this reel a no brainer in any size/retrieve speed.

I'm having the same issue...maybe doing a big update? Hopefully the admins from SU can chime in on this
