It’s sensitive. It’s got a lot of technology from their highest end rods trickled down to a much more affordable price. I throw my victory rods 95% of the time. lure rating is pretty true to spec too. Not like some other rods out there where the sweet spot is way lower.

One thing worth mentioning. lure rating is true. I’ve thrown baits 9 oz on the 8oz rod. It didn’t feel overwhelmed by it

I’ve caught striper on buzz baits and haven’t had them bend. That doesn’t mean it’s not going to happen. having tens of thousands of stripers under my belt including a west coast fifty… this is all speaking from experience n

Glides in current I tend to open up the joint a bit. They aren’t going to glide evenly on a drift.

If your getting short strikes something isn’t right with the way your working the bait, the color, tide, size etc. if your having trouble landing, you need to do what you can to increase the land ratio. Assist cord helps greatly with death roll. Having a parabolic rod to let them head shake and roll. stripers are extremely powerful and will torque the bait against their face and bend out hooks with a quickness. don’t forget, a lot of times a striper will slap at a bait to injure it or to just see what’s up with it. So it may not actually be a bite in the first place.

I wouldn’t fish a DRT bait for striper. One decent striper and that bait is going to fill with water. get lures built for stripers. There is a massive difference in build quality

I’ve used the Victory and bass X rods for over a year. I’m thoroughly impressed. The victory had a couple revisions until the final product you see now. super lightweight. They share technology from their high end rods. But in a super affordable package. ST Croix is all I fish now. And the warranty can’t be beat. 15 years!!!

Owner STx-58 or Owner ST-66 is the way to go. I fish for stripers in the California delta with glides. Like any other bait you need to find the cadence to presentation they want to eat. resin baits should be at the top of your list. They will withstand the bites. Injected baits will crack to big bites and the deathroll inherent with big stripers.

Clayton and I were fishing for stripers and he had a big king crush his shiner. Didn’t stay pinned but it can happen.
