That is to some extent because Gama is not a true test line

    .430mm 20lb Gama Edge

    .370mm 20lb Seaguar Tatsu

For the record, it appears InvisX splits the gap at .400mm or so I see listed. My point here is not bash or suggest as we all have preferences and they are all good lines, but rather point out listed test strength is not absolute. Diameter is absolute, assuming listed accurate, and should be our guideline

Yea, I agree w you that they should just label the 16 lb test line what it actually is…22lb test.  Or call the 20lb, 28 lbs test.

In theory, diameter is important but the diameter ranges for say 20lb pound test in the higher end fluoros between the various manufacturers are all really similar.  I think it would be hard for me to tell the differences in .430 and .370.

  2. The tournament guys down here In the south all talk about Gamma Edge as the strongest line produced. Gammas 16 lb line has a 22lb actual breaking strength. Their 20 lb line has a 28lb actual breaking strength. If you read the reviews you’ll see lots of “I’ve never broken off on this line”

The only glides throw that small are HPH’s. Which isn’t a true gliding bait. But it’s lethal. BGC 7” are awesome also. I just prefer the 9”. I’ve heard Bass Brains glides are money. They are 6” I believe. I just like bigger glides personally.

I hadn’t seen the Bass Brain Glides before. Will check them out!

I’m fishing lakes with lots of spots and they seem to like the 6-7 inch size. Looking to expand that category and hoping to see what’s out there. Thanks for the note!

Just looked up another transaction back in March for a reel that he appeared to rip someone off. How could he still be allowed on here only to take more peoples money and rip them off?  Is there any kind of traffic cop that watches over this kind of BS?

The Black Market should just go back to G&S transactions where the buyer pays the fees as the standard.

It’s interesting that SU buyers are willing to accept the risk for SU sellers (who they don’t know) that believe they can avoid the tax man by running the deal FnF.  In an audit, if profit is made, the gov would considered these swimbaits a “good” and unfortunately, it’s a taxable transaction/business if over $600 is made in profit in a year.  Even further, It’s not cash, it’s documented by PayPal who has to report the transactions to the IRS.  If the fed wants a cut of your profits on a swimbait transaction, they will want it regardless of you say it’s FnF or G&S.

We are seeing a lot more folks get ripped off because we have made it easy for people to rip buyers off in the name of accepting risk so Sellers can hide from the IRS.

We don’t need a traffic cop, buyers should just use G&S (pay the fees) anytime they are buying from someone they don’t know.

  5. It’s gotten easier for scammers because the SU community has moved away from the G&S payment.  Sellers believe they can evade the tax man by calling it FnF.  I assure you if the IRS wants to audit you, it doesn’t matter what you labeled the transaction in PayPal.  And unfortunately now, the gov considers these sales a taxable transaction if $600 or more is completed in a year.

The result of the move to FnF only creates less secure transactions and a much smaller market to buy and sell from.  It doesn’t actually save anyone from the tax man. The law is what it is.

IMHO, The Black Market would be better off going back to G&S as the standard.

794 is good for light baits like TKs, I would say it maxes out at 2 oz.

That’s what I needed to know. I was thinking it might run lighter than the specs.  May stick w what I know in that 795SB. That 795 is a great rod.

  7. Interested in the SU community’s  opinions on the Dobyns 794SB rod.  Currently, I have a 795SB and it works well. The tackle junkie in me says I need a step down for lighter baits.  I have a ton of treble hook baits under 3 oz and thinking this may have a spot in the line up.  Couldn’t find really any input or reviews online so any info would be greatly appreciated!

To my knowledge zelle dosent have an option for friends/family or not. If thats the case how can we know f&f isnt also taxable via paypal?

Zelle will probably have to send you the 1099 and you wouldn’t have to report to if you didn’t make a profit off the bait or  it was a personal transaction. I think from the govs perspective, the 1099 is just an information report and the filer would be responsible for the tax liability IF the transaction deems it by their definitions.

  9. This change towards FnF definitely changes the game for the legit newbie seller on SU that have no history or reputation.

It also changes the game for the standard SU buyers who have always been most comfortable buying G&S.  In the past, G&S had always been the SU norm. Now it sounds like FnF will have to be more or even mainly accepted.

I always liked FnF for when I know the person personally or have an idea who you are buying from and they have a decent SU reputation. Example…I’d have no problem buying FnF from you guys (SVT, Chef or Sumo)

But I imagine this change to the tax requirement along with the cultural impact it will have on SU toward FnF will make it harder for the legit sellers who aren’t as high volume sellers/don’t have the built up rep yet to connect with wearier buyers. Could put the sellers with reputation in a great spot.

  10. Saw this post on another forum....

A provision in the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021, makes it that starting 2022, if an electronic payment facilitator makes payments totaling more than $600 in a calendar year to a payee, it will be required to report those payments on a Form 1099-K. Taxable income unless payee can show a qualifying loss.
2021 and years past, 3rd party payment facilitators were only subject to reporting when the amount paid to a single payee during a calendar year exceeded $20,000 (most states), no more.

Wondering how this could effect the buying and selling on the BM...I'm assuming this means PayPal will have to report cumulative transactions over $600 and we will have to claim sold bait money as income?  That’s like 2 or 3 baits sold to have to report.  Would FNF transactions have the same requirement?  Curious if anyone has any details or knowledge?
