  1. So the sweetspot for the XH is around 4oz?
  2. Accurate 300 tern 2 or tranx 400 with maxcuatro would be my first go to. Tranx 500 is expensive but so cool. Edit- I also have the blue proteus 8'10" XH with an accurate BX2 600 and I liked it for yo-yos and heavy jigs. It was manageable for surface irons but would have preferred a star drag and a lighter rod. But caught 25lb blackfins, 80lb yellows, and 90lb class AJ's in the gulf with it.
  3. Tackle Direct is legit. I ordered a calcutta D from them and a bunch of saltwater gear from them.
  4. If you have an IROD gen2/3 805, 805, or 865 and want a longer handle, Irod now has 17" and 20" cork handles. The website still says they're unavailable but Matt said they have them.
  5. Does it have a wide or tight glide? I have really been looking for open water stuff as the main lake near me is a canyon lake.
  6. Has anyone had any experience with baits from CaliGlides? Mainly looking at the 9" handmade trout glide.
  7. They're good for inshore fishing and will work for 1-4oz if you can't find anything else but there are a lot of better options if you're just looking for a big bait rod.
  8. I couldn't believe I got another chance to observe this fish again which made me realize how important having a scale was. I definitely will be investing in another scale and I'll be weighing every weight in my gym when it reopens! Also, your Youtube content is great. It definitely helped me get a good understanding of the big bait mentality when I was starting out. Thanks!
  9. IM POSTING THE SAME FISH AGAIN AND NONE OF YOU CAN STOP ME. Okay, now that that's out of the way, let me tell you how I'm an even bigger idiot than we all thought. Sorry for the long post TL;DR: Caught same fish twice and got a chance to put her on scale, thought she was at least 10 but scale says close to 7. But scale also gave weights from 8lb 6oz to 9lb 12oz for the same 10lb plate. So I think 8-9. Length with mouth closed was 26in with tail flat and 27in with tail pinched. So once again, my buddy and I wake up at the buttcrack of dawn with the express purpose of frog fishing. Thankfully this time I didn't almost drop a load in my pants and I remembered to grab a 168 s-waver before I left at 5:30. The frog bite dies, and I lose a nice santone spinnerbait I found floating around my truck so I tie on the S-waver. After I land this fish I realize that it's the same fish from a week and a half ago. It had the same hole in its jaw and the same gigantic bug eyes. But again, my dumbass still had no scale because what were the chances that I'd run across a fish that size again so soon? Well my buddy kept the fish in the water and aerated while me and his brother ran back into town to buy a cheap scale from our local tackle shop. I passed a city cop, 2 county sheriff deputies, the actual sheriff, and a state trooper, each time doing at least 10 over the speed limit to get back as fast as possible. When I get back the fish that I thought was for sure a DD went 6lbs 14oz on the scale. The property manager was there and very loudly going, "That's 5 pounds but I caught two 12's back to back out of here" while looking at the fish once from 30 yards away which pushed my buttons in every which way. I go home to test the scale and to maybe save my confidence in my estimation. The scale gave me readings from 8lb 6oz to 9lb 12oz for the same 10lb plate with back to back readings weighing 8+oz apart. I think the fish was truly 8-9lbs but again I'm not sure. The picture of the scale reading 9-05 and 9-11 were back to back measurements. Here's the C2C: Why I'm an even bigger idiot than I thought: I still didn't get a scale I had my buddy keep the fish for 30 minutes while I drove to town to buy one I buy the cheapest scale that comes with batteries I sped past 5 cops and definitely should not have The cheap scale I bought was wildly inconsistent I learn I can't estimate a fish's weight for ish
  10. This is a weird story about my PB that you may not want to know, but I will share with you anyway. I went frog fishing at a big farm pond for sunrise at 6am, which was way too early for my morning poo, which is around 11:05 these days because I sleep till 11. I fish for 3 hours and catch 6 2-3lbers on a bluegill pattern before my body decided that it was time now. Like NOW. I had to poo so bad I couldn't go into the farmers house and still be invited back so I bucked up and drove 20 minutes home. Grabbed Mattlures ultimate gill I accidentally left and returned to pond after dropping the kids off at the pool and caught new PB on swimbait I forgot at home. I did not have a scale because I did not think the pond held bigger than 7 and also, I don't own a scale. Dumb, I know. And I was such an excited idiot that I didn't get a cut of line to measure her length or girth. I think it went at least 10 because I've caught a lot of 7 & 8's that have been put on a scale but I could be wrong. Let me know what you think she went!
  11. I finally got tracking today and the tracking says it should get here today but only time will tell. As annoying as being kept in the dark is, I think the discount was worth it for me. YMMV.
  12. I probably should have looked harder before asking lol but thanks!
