I know it's an old thread but I couldn't help it. I did something similar to this on an old Depp's 175 that had been damaged. I removed the treble hooks, and added top hooks attached to hardware with a braid leash that runs under the skin. The hooks are are held firmly in place through a small hole in the skin, but when pulled release from the bait. I balanced it with a couple sticker weights under the skin so it swims level and sits vertically on the bottom. Painted it myself with rubber worm paint. Kinda ugly but Action looks great along the bottom of my pool. But have yet to fish it.

Some of the most beautiful baits,,, But I have to agree. Of the 10 or 15 ived owned, I've spent countless hours trying to tune them with mediocre results at best. BUT! I do love MATTLURES floaters for dead sticking.

I couldn't agree more . I've been at it for the better part of 7yrs and still get skunked more often than not ......but when they eat the big bait it's definitely worth it . Even a dink is pretty cool on a big bait. These little guys were tired of eating robo worms and cut chovies. Haha

Thank you. In the last 6 years every one I've convinced to give up catching 5 or 6 small bass for a chance at the photo op bass are pretty reluctant until they see their first big follower. That big girl actually ate the Depp's 250 in a realistic wrapped Fillmore trout. That and the baitsanity have been clutch.
