  1. Thanks for the input. This rod is rated to 3 oz and I doubt I'll cast more than that. I'm more concerned about the lower range of this rod namely 1 to 2 oz stuff...
  2. My name is Ron Beloff. I fish freshwater and saltwater. I do a lot of flipping and pitching for bass, trout fishing, surf fishing, jetty fishing, and make trips to Ontario for bass and pike. I want to get into swimbait fishing. I'm looking at the Victory SB Ranger rod (1-3 oz) from St Croix and want to match it up with a Curado 300EJ reel. Right now I'm debating on whether to use mono or braid but I do have spare spools for the Curado so I could do both. Plan on using the rod for some large Whopper Ploppers, S-Wavers, and Berkley 7 and 9" Nessies. Any help would be appreciated as well as comments regarding the possible rod choice since reviews on this rod are very scarce. Thanks
  3. Does anyone use this rod? I am looking to purchase one for my Curado 300 EJ reel. Thanks Sandcrab
  4. Looking to get into SB fishing this year. I'd like to start with smaller baits namely those in the 1-3 oz range. Looking at a St Croix Victory SB Ranger rod to go with a Curado 300EJ I have had for years. Line in the 14-17 mono range. I'd like to check out the Berkley Nessies in the 7 or 9" range. I'd use this rod for musky fishing in Canada as well. Anyone have the SB Ranger in the 1-3oz version that they could speak for? Thanks
