  1. It was crazy, almost as good as Falcon in 2008 before anyone had FFS. Hell, Aaron Martens came in at 109lbs 8 oz after 3 days, then did bad on day 4 with only 19lbs. He was one of three guys who broke the 100lb mark in only 3 days of fishing. No one did that at Fork with FFS. https://www.bassmaster.com/tournament/2008-elite-series-lone-star-shootout/results/ You get down here in Texas with the right timing on a really good lake its gonna happen with the best pros in the country fishing. Simple as that. The tough part is having the weather cooperate. Thats whats tough for me planning fishing trips. I live here in Texas, but its a big place. So I have to travel a bit to get to the best lakes. All my trips to these top level lakes have to be planned so I can book a place to stay, take vacation at work, etc. But the weather is a hell of a variable this time of year. It can definitely make or break you.
  2. I'm no expert but If I make it back out to Ivie this year Ill probably be solo. If so we can meet up and fish. As far as Ivie goes I think a lot of the online stuff pertains to it. Maybe not as much as normal because the water is off color. Ivie has all the stuff they fish in those videos plus all the massive submerged trees along the river channel. I know I didnt fish my big treble baits a whole lot because of the diminished drawing power due to dirtier water. I spent more time banging soft baits off the cover.
  3. Where ever you are fishing, dont stop fishing there. Congratulations, thats incredible.
  4. Im definitely gonna try to make it back also. We hit it at the worst time it seems. Gonna be spending a week at Rayburn so I need to start working on my wife to be able to pull off the Ivie 2.0 trip. I just learned so much in the 4 days I was there and really need to get back out there when the bite is a little better to put that to use.
  5. Leviathan xxh can do it easily. I cant remember what I was throwing on mine the other day that was below the 6-16 oz rating but it did great.
  6. I just did 4 and a half days there. Tough tough fishing. My biggest was 7lbs. just blind casting a jaw jackin baits weedless shad fairly shallow. Next to some deep watwr with a lot of shad school activity. I did find 2 monsters down by the dam on livescope early one morning. Had one follower and when he came fairly close I threw in a few twitches and he turned and swam off. Nobody was catching anything good. I couldnt help but notice the day after we left Dalton and Josh both abandoned Ivie for JB Thomas. We might have seen yall there or talked to yall, we stayed and ate breakfast at elm creek every morning. We were in 2 basscats, my old mans blue puma sts and my silver caracal.
  7. Congratulations man, sweet ride!!!
  8. In, if this is still ongoing. Had a new addition to the family so been busy on a trip to meet the little fella.
  9. Wow, thats a good looking bait. Bet it would be great in some of this tannic colored water I fish.
  10. I took my minn kota precision out and put in a noco genius in when I went to ionic lithiums. The noco isnt as fast as the Minn kota was but easily charges 100% overnight. I also added 1 more battery so that was a big reason for getting rid of the minn kota.
  11. Congratulations. That is a sure nuff fatty!!
  12. Catch my first double digit largemouth. Have a trip planned in Feb to the best trophy lake in the state. I also have plans to learn a new lake thats about an hour and a half away with really good genetics. Then fish the local stuff every chance I get.
  13. A few fish from last week when I wasnt fishing solo, you can see a gambler in my hand in one of the pics. I caught a bunch of pretty nice fish that day
  14. I smoke em on the gamblers also. 5 ", 6 1/2", or 8". They are awesome in grass or pads and just get bit. Very economical, with a great hookup ratio.
  15. Thats awesome, cant beat that. Peak efficiency!!!
  16. Im down here East of Houston. We have had some crazy days. Had one day last week with lots of really nice fish. Fishing big boot tails at a not so slow pace. I was debating dragging my basscat up that way to fish. My sister in law is about to have her first baby and my wife is planning on staying a while at their place. Figured it might be a chance to fish up that way and hang out with the family at night.
  17. Awesome!! Santa brought me a lews superduty for punching and another Curado 300 for swimbaits. You gotta love Texas, we have been having some awesome warm sunny days to fish.
  18. Way to finish strong on day 4!!! Wow Sweet boat too.
  19. I got my xxh, as soon as I fished it a bit I knew I couldnt live without an xh. So its on preorder now.
  20. Loved hearing about you and the swimbait fishing up there in Austin area. Anything swimbait fishing in Texas I love hearing. Even though there is no clear water in my part of Texas. Wish he would have not talked so much and let you talk more.
