Jace D
I've been hesitant about starting a glide bait because I know that ballasting is tricky but I decided to just try making a master and see where it goes. Still have a lot of work to do but I have about 20 hrs. in this already. Patience is key.
austin
I really like how much work you put into it. The fins that were carved out of the wood that be swimbait was is amazing, This is different because i've seen people glue those pieces on. but this makes it have a more natural flow to the bait itself. Great start!

chuckin-swimb8's
looks great!!! what kind of wood are you using for it?
Jace D
looks great!!! what kind of wood are you using for it? The wood is poplar. I like poplar because it is hard enough to hold up to abuse and it also carves well but it's not heavy like most of the true hardwoods. I like cedar also but it seems to be a little harder to find. I used two 3/4" thick pieces then I glued and clamped them together with titebond 3 wood glue. That stuff is super strong and waterproof. I like doing it this way because it gives me a centerline to work with on the bait and it keeps the bait even and balanced. I've finished the detail work on the head except for maybe a little bit of fine sanding. There is about 10 hr just in the detail work on the head. All the detail work was done with a standard razor blade. I haven't invested in any nice carving knives or even some exacto knives. But the razor blade seems to get the job done. jakebray
looks insane a mold would make it very easy with weighting it to the right specs, ive ruined many baits trying to weight them properly. past a photo with the end product! Will do. Thanks for the comments guys. I'm just waiting on all my materials for the first molds but I should have some finished stuff before too long.
