ryanss
I want to try some yellowtail this summer, I have a scorpion 300 that I use for stripers with 25# fc, Is it worth bringing or should I just leave it at home?
GregoSD
If your going on a charter leave it at home, private boat sure but it’s going to work you. Your better off getting a torium 16 or 20 kookfarmer, BittyRanger and Seaworthy81

collegebassin
Accurate 300 tern 2 or tranx 400 with maxcuatro would be my first go to. Tranx 500 is expensive but so cool. Edit- I also have the blue proteus 8'10" XH with an accurate BX2 600 and I liked it for yo-yos and heavy jigs. It was manageable for surface irons but would have preferred a star drag and a lighter rod. But caught 25lb blackfins, 80lb yellows, and 90lb class AJ's in the gulf with it. BASS_SWINGER
500 Tranx might be fun
5-20
Sure, bring it. A 300 size reel is more than enough for SoCal Yellowtail.
