LDC Standard Issue XXH Rod Selection | 8' or 8'6" ??

I'd greatly appreciate any input or recommendations on the LDC Standard issue 8' XXH vs. the 8'6" XXH. Mostly for fishing 8-10 oz glides, right now I have an 11 inch 9oz Hiro Trout I'd like to throw with it.

I understand the 8'6" will have more tip and a slower action which on paper will be "better" for treble hook baits, but I don't like when the tip is too soft. I had to stop fishing Deps 250s on the Dobyns 867 for this reason. I enjoy longer rods so there's no question on which is more/less managable, etc. the biggest concern is if the 8'6" is a little too soft to cast 9oz+ baits or if the 8' would pull trebles. If anyone has an opinion or ideally experience with both please let me know!

I don't own the LDC standard issue but I've owned one of their XH Workshop rods and a Dobyns 867. LDC is much truer to their ratings than Dobyns. There is a good chance the 8'6" is softer than the 8' but that extra length does give you more line pickup on the hookset and cushion when fishing the fish especially if it wants to surge next to the boat.

Thank you for the input! That definitely helps
