Day 21: To be honest I couln't sleep much last night because of the bigger fish I have been on. It's always on your mind that there is more and bigger fish. G-man was a little late because of a skunk encounter, luckly not sprayed. Glad it wasn't me that would have been a bad omen. SKUNKED on day 21 was in my head.

That Skunk was creeping up on me I could feel it. Even in the boat he was working his mojo on us. Well a tough day again started off 0-2 and one was a good solid 3Lbr. 7:15 am and not a fish in the boat. Then Paydirt the 3:16 FS SS 8" Trout "Bone Daddy" did it . This is a wicked bait in the water Red eyes and all - its just a bad dude! But I got my fish. Did get back out in the 3-5pm time slot, because of evening plans and pulled in a couple more and again lost a good 4lbr. Good fish but not today. I have been logging my experiences and will give you my Top 10 when this ends. There have been some eye openers for me I will admit it. Ten days to go the countdown starts.

Day 22: Hot 102 yesterday and 100 today but it is August and that's normal you just have to deal with it. Today was fishing unfamiler waters as in never been here before. Knew there was a little lake there but never had a chance to try it out until today. My job put me close so I went on the lunch break to test it out. Bank fishing was my only choice here. The water was pretty murky from the bank side from the wind blowing into it. I could see some hydrilla mats in casting distance and clearer water so I broke out the 3:16 6" FL FS Shad ( went floater because I didn't know what was underneath ) and away I went. Nothing for about 15 minutes then I ran across a cut between two mats about 12' wide and 40' long. First cast a fish, second cast a fish, third cast a fish, skip the next two cast and bam another fish and another. Nothing big but now I no there are bass there. Smaller bass turn into big bass and day 22 was in the books and still time to eat!

Day 23: Tough this morning nothing on top. The Big gray Heron was doing better than me. This is the first time I've seen this happen. He snatched a 13" bass right out of the water threw it on the bank, the bass was flopping around and the heron stabbed it with its beak whack!. Every time that bass made the slightest move the heron would whack it. He hit that bass 12-13 times over a period of 5-7 minutes before it was dead. What was crazier was he ate just the eyes out and flew off to another spot. Must be a delicacy item "fish eyes". Well he was one better than me but there were fish there or he wouldn't have been there. Started off with the 8" Spro Hitch Floater never even got so much as a look from a bass it was 7:30am and zippo. Heron 1 vs Me 0. I wasn't about to let the Old gray bird get the best of me and besides he was wasting good fish. He kept giving me the eye like I was in his spot but I was there first. Well I dropped down to a 3:16 6" Baby wake to see if that would change my luck working it sub surface still nothing. Then dropped down to a 4" Spro SS Kill'r Gill and bam! I found the magic size and bait the fish finally let me know what they wanted. Good limit and then some while the heron got mad and flew off the score ended with Me 8 and Him 2. What a sore loser.

Day 24: G-man met me at the boat at 6:00 am we were going to try to do some damage before it got real hot. It was another Swamp Butt -Ball Soup kinda 100 Degree day again. He had a really good crappie on topwater, the back on that thing was 1 1/2" thick! A true slab. My only bass of the day on Swimbait was a solid 4 Lbr. Fishing stumps on a channel bend 9-12 ft of water. Pitchin the 3:16 Gill to the shady side and it finally got bit. Bait balls every where when this happens the day fishing comes to a halt. My guess is the gorge themselves at night and its not as hot when they feed.....Sounds like a night trip is gonna be in the plan to survive.

Day 25: Testing new waters I managed to get one bite in the morning on the Spro Shad. Not much happening, He had good color and kept me from getting skunked so I will take it. This lake has alot of potential and I will be back. Another ONE HUNDO DAY! The heat is kicking mine and the fish's Tail.

Day 28: My morning ended short after a serious backlash (yes I still can do it, the cut out kind) and only had the one rod with with me. You would think after years of practice this wouldn't be possible and no wind at that! Did manage to get one bass on the 8" 3:16 FS SS Trout "Bone Daddy" before I messed up my line. I was shut down after 45 minutes of fishing it was barely daylight. THREE DAYS LEFT! Staying with the Big stuff too hopefully end well.

Day 29: Cannibal Bass today all on 3:16 7.5" lit up Bass Wake JR. Slow wake did the trick. This is the first time I've used a Bass colored bait and actually caught fish just never had much confidence until today.

Day 30: Me and G-man back at it 6:00 am sharp this morning. Fishing was terrible the morning trip was done for me at 8:00 am and no fish not even a bite. G-Man went back out after he took me back too the bank and off to work I went. He managed to get a top water fish after, I had left. I figured with all the holiday traffic it was gonna be tough on me in the evening just to catch one Bass. Thats all I wanted was one fish to keep this going on, the next to the last day. It wasn't looking good. Went back out with the 3:16 Lit Up Bass 7.5" Wake JR. Since there was good activity yesterday on it. Started at 3:30 fished about an hour and finally got one. You never seen a bass come into the boat as fast as that one did. He bit and everything was a blur to him after that! I thanked him took some pics and sent him on his way. What a relief, ONE MORE DAY and it is tough trying to grind it out. Going to take a 4 hour nap and head back out for the night bite on into the morning hopefully it will pay off. I've saved my XL Nez Rat for this last night going into the last day. I haven't used it at all.
