something to consider:

some scales are calibrated to measure oz in troy oz (approx 31 grams) rather than the traditional 28 grams/oz. it just depends usually what the scale was intended to weigh. thats why in my opinion its best to work in grams because theres no other possibility a gram is a gram. this could cause differences like the one noticed on the mother.
