thastickybandit
Hey SU I got a question for all you guys in Cali? How often do your lakes get stocked with trout? And when it does get stocked how long does it take the bass to key on?
thedonnguyen
Trout stocks are pretty much done for the season but here in San Diego, they're typically bi-weekly and the bass know it. It's pretty much a feeding frenzy when the truck gets there. They know the sound of the truck. Rogervang
California doesn't get too cold so trout stocking only happens at the end of the year. Last year, central California almost didn't get a stock because of the climate. Like don said, they know.
R8R
Trout are not the only thing they stock, at least at norcal, since they have very deep lakes and reservoirs they hope they will grow so people can catch them later on.
thastickybandit
Don with it being bi-weekly how long of window do they do it for? There are a couple small ponds here that get it twice a year one early spring and one late fall. And then there is one lake that get a huge dump of trout on mid-late fall. thedonnguyen
the weather this year was warm and most lakes won't stock if the water isn't cold enough. This season was late November to mid-March I think

Chaozu
Whatever happened to the lawsuit that was stopping the trout plants? Did that ever get settled?
philip garcia
In a lot of the NorCal lakes they plant coho salmon and Kokanee. The reason the spotted bass got so big at Bullards Bar was because of the Kokanee. Oroville Lake has coho salmon plants. I believe in Lake Berryessa they plant both.
