Hey guys so ive moved from sd all the way to sacramento to start college up here at sac state. I'm staying in the dorms and got the American river running right behind the building  so of course i gotta bring a rod up. I've used the search bar and found a couple things out but i'm still a little lost as far of spot acess and what works. i also dont have a car so id be walking to my spots. I was wondering if there were any locals up here who could point me in the right direction. Not asking for anyones spots of course just some info about about how to fish up here. Any info would be much appreciated!

Go to Paradise Beach and walk about a mile downstream, there you will find some deep holes that those big stripers like to hold in. Also all the way up near Sunrise Blvd there are also some nice deep holes that have some HUGE striper in. Use some type of surface bait in the evenings, like a Punker or Slammer, then use a glide bait during the day. Early mornings and Late evenings are best.

Thanks for all the quick responses guys i really appreciate it! Stipers are always fun to catch, i'll have to xperiment with some baits and hopefully get a few. I plan on exploring a lot of the river by me and hopefully finding some deeper holes like you guys said. May need to pick up a few new baits for up here as well!

That river is wonderful. As said above, plus like anywhere else you think you can reach. Want some solid advice? Buy a mountain bike. There are dirt trails all over that water, so work up a sweat and seek. You'll come across a dozen must fish spots within a couple hours. Keep a chain handy and lock that bike down to something big if you can't keep it with you, five fingers all over that city trust me. Also, since you're local to the region, don't be foolish and pass on Nimbus. When the Salmon arrive, they arrive thick. Even Trout in that water, nice ones too. Whatever you do, find a way to fish Folsom. And, yes I've done it, almost any park water in that city has fish in it. Most are public access, fishing is legal. Take that for what it's worth. Been 20 years since I roamed those parts, it's an old city, well established waters, some things don't change. Be safe.
