Birthday Fish

For my wife's birthday I took her to a awesome lake that is quite difficult to get access to. Up at 2am we started our 4 hour journey to get there just before first light.

Bite was a bit slow and I went through a few topwater swimbaits without luck.

I had just designed a new lure (it might not strictly be a swimbait but certainly not a regular lure) and decided to give it a go. 2nd cast produced a huge swirl that turned out to be a good 2.4kg largie eager to commit on the 3rd cast. What a start! For the next 40 minute until the sun came up I managed to land another 3 good fish and missed a few.

The rest of the day was spent watching and trying to copy Sarah smashing them on a D-shad.

Day Two was preceded by a huge thunderstorm and the bite went dead. Nothing worked until I hauled out the Undertaker... not sure why it took me that long because "If the bite is dead surely you need an Undertaker?".

I had more followers than Justin Bieber on Twitter but did manage to land 2 good largie in 4.5# range to save the day.
