floridaswimb8er
I'm putting together a rig exclusively for fishing 5 and 6 inch Bullshad type baits. I am curious as to what rods some of you guys use and why. I am looking into a 7-6 casting rod, MH with a slightly soft tip, not unlike a crankbait rod, but it has to be able to handle 2oz baits. What are you guys using? Any and all advice and experience is appreciated.

gcopple
I throw mine on the daiwa dxsb mh. It handles all of my smaller treble baits perfect (bullshad, hardgill, Raton and Matt's rat).

Dink whisperer
Another vote for the Dobyns 795. I also use the Phenix recon elite 796 for my 6-7" Bullshads.

Nick S.
I'm pretty sure in one of his videos Bucca says he only uses a 795. Pretty hard to go wrong with the rod the bait maker (and everyone else apparently haha) recommends.
Cochran53
795 is my choice for the 6" and the 4x4. I actually like throwing the 5" on a ML Jig and worm rod. For both, go with the 795. Edited May 26, 2017 by Cochran53
SPEEDBEAD
Built one for baits in that class. 7'11 1-4oz Slings 'em
charlie.m.jr
I throw all of mine either on an older All pro swimbait rod or a Dobyn's 795. The all pro is like a giant version of a crankbait rod with lots of a$$ behind it, and if you stick a fish on that rod they just don't come off.
