Snookonfly
Looking for some opinions...Realizing I am undergunned with the current rods I own for the Deps 250 that I just bought. To start, my thoughts are something inexpensive like the Okuma Guide Select or the Diawa DX. If these are good, which one between the two? If they aren't good, what would you all suggest? bdpettit
Irod is worth a look. Don't own one, but lots of good feedback out there Csweitzer
Csweitzer
For glide baits, the IRod Bailey Swim is a decent rod for the price. I've caught fish on the TT, Deps 250, and the Swaver 200 using this rod. This winter I'll probably upgrade though, its not very sensitive. Scrambass
Guide selects are too stiff for big trebled baits
Mossypumpkin
I agree with the above comment. Irod or a used Dobyns
Snookonfly
Has anyone had any experience with the Okuma SBX XXH 7'11 swimbait rod? Link is below. Too stiff? http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Okuma_SBX_Swimbait_Casting_Rods/descpage-SBX.html Any information on this rod would even helpful. Bloodkitty
Go with the Bailey's. They're really versatile. Great for Deps 250 and treble hook baits and they get the job done for jig or beast hooked baits.
Zealandhunter
+1 on the irod. love the bailey swim and large swim for 250's
waynem
When I get up to the size of a Deps 250 I much prefer going with a rod longer than 8 feet. You can do it with an 8 footer, I certainly did for a year or two, but the casting is just so much better with a longer rod (in my case a Dobyns 867). I would not have thought that extra half foot would make such a difference until I tried it. Your shoulders will thank you. Tbernz
Just stay on the look out for a used 867, they pop up for 180-220 usually. Great all around stick
SpaceGhost
what do you mean by refurbished? Never heard of a refurbished rod. there's a section of their site where they sell refurbished/previously owned rods. BASS_SWINGER
Mossypumpkin
I fully agree with Wayne. You can’t beat an 867 for the 250. And Dobyns likely won’t have one refurbished, but you can EASILY find one on the forums for $200. I see them for that all the time. Put up a WTB post and you’ll have one waynem
