mike h
Need to finish this bait I started a couple of years ago. Swims really good, fast or slow. Alaskan Cedar. Probably won't use it. I'm thinking trade if that's ok to do on this site. needs topcoat and double check action when complete. I've made several of these in a 10" version. may do a bone with foil scales or foil the whole thing. Have not decided. porkmeatballs and jhoozie1
danthefisherman
Looks great Mike! Foil inlay would look awesome on it. The top section of the joint is a bit concerning though...I wouldn't want such a beautiful bait to break after a cast. bassboy
mike h
Shouldn't be a problem Dan. That wood is strong. Here's a pic of another one I did. 1000s of casts on this one. Joint is about the same. I get your point tho. Better if they are further away from the edge. danthefisherman
Sounds like it's no biggie then haha...That looks really good! Love the tail design!
mike h
Thanks Dan. Appreciate the comments. A skipjack has two meaty points on its tail leading into the fin with reflective scales on it, plus it gives more surface area to glue to. The fin is lexan with lines scribed in. Nothing special. I like the skipjack profile because it seems to be one of the most stable designs, like the Deps 250 or Gancraft, etc. and it has a generic shad look to it.
