Sarge
I've got the PHD 869 and handles Mothers like a champ, its as heavy as needed in my opinion. Someone on hear recommended it to me when I was looking, and I'm glad I listened. With that said, building a United Composite US 80 Monster right now and may end up liking it better, its got a more mod-fast action and seems to have the same power, but actual testing will tell the tale. Josh626
Thanks for the video gave me alotta insight. I also heard about the phd 869 it’s rated 25-60 so is the psw 909xh, the psw 909xhj is 30-80 so maybe that is overkill since they are treble hook baits u need some flex
Nick S.
It’s been my experience (very limited mind you) that a 9’ rod is too long for the big baits (over 9-10 oz).
Josh626
Well yeah most recommend to shave the butt down to make it an 8’6”
Josh626
But never fished anything over 8’ except my 9’ elixir for trout lol
Nick S.
A 9’ rod is sweet for a lot of baits, just not for Moms and Hinkles and Beasts haha.

basssavage24/7
I'm curious was is a shorter rod better I've seen some rods that ment to handle 20 oz baits but the there under the 8ft 6in range. I thought a longer rod that loads up well would be a lot better. But I fish from the bank. Thought it would help get more distance with those pound baits and above.
